Not a happy site

The site was in the middle of a refurbishment project with only one toilet block open so not as convenient as usual. The lady on reception was not what you would call friendly, you might even say she was a little surly. Not what we expect!

Pleasant stay

We only stayed one night on are way to catch the ferry from Dover - very good location amenities perfect even though there was some improvements being carried out - which we had been made aware of prior to booking. Owners very friendly and made us welcome - we will use this site again when travelling abroad.

Rude and aggressive !

Due to a 4 hour delay at the channel tunnel I arrived to late to get on the site as it closed at 8pm. I had traveled south from my homeward north journey to stay on this club site. As it has been the custom in the 40 years I've been camping and the fact I had no where else to go I parked my motor home on the car park and settled down for the night. At 8:15am I was rudely awaken by someone banging on the side of my Motorhome, I got up and went to the door to see what was going on, I was confronted a bold headed goaty beards warden shouting at me I tried to explain what had happened the night be for the warden simple continued shouting at me saying I was a lying bullshiter and if I didn't leave immediately he would call the police to have me removed . One thing for certain as I  travel 4 times a year through the tunnel I will never use this club site again it falls far short of any club site I have visited. I think some customer relation re training is required on this site!

Great for an inexperienced maiden voyage!

Thought we'd book in with our new motorhome. Despite arriving late, check in was great. Lovely site, clean, well maintained - despite building works there was no aggro. Super staff ... very friendly and helpful. We were 3 adults, 2 under 10's and 2 dogs. Given our inexperience we were helped by the staff every step of the way (despite our falling over each other in the van!) Had a great few days - all credit to them for putting up with us!!

Soggy Easter

After getting to site and being told I cannot have a hardstanding as the ones vacant are for people going on a Ferry, we were put on a very soggy grass pitch which got even worse over the weekend due to the awfull weather. I have never had this issue on a club site before and always got a hardstanding, but was dismissed out of hand for saying I booked one months ago. Our friends who were on site before us even asked to save one as we were stuck in a traffic jam only 2 miles away and were laughed at for asking. Everything we own ended up covered in mud thanks to these wardens being very unhelpfull. I know they cannot control the weather but they did not help matters by dismissing our requests for a decent pitch. The grass pitch's are in a dip and will always get soaking as the water has nowhere to run off. This is very bad for anyone stuck there and a terrible design. I have always liked the sites I have been on as a paid up member of the club but would never return here and never recommend this site to anyone. The nearby road is very noisy but seemed OK at night. Probably the worst week I have ever had on any site. Nearby pub is good for food but expensive and very long waiting time even when not busy.

Plenty of interest

Easy to find with good access, this site has all the usual club facilities. There are lots of things to do for all ages within a fairly short drive. If you are a member of English Heritage, there are three castles to visit within a few miles, plus clifftop and country walks, pleasant beaches and Canterbury within easy reach. As a bonus there is a very good little general store and post office opposite the site and just a few yards away a nice pub with friendly staff and reasonably priced meals. Slight road noise from racy motorbikes but it didn't really worry us as we were pitched well away from road

a nice site....spoilt slightly

We booked a grass pitch so fair enough but Storm Katie arriving on our 3rd day only added to the already sodden ground we were put on. We must have seen 10 or more hardstanding pitches unused the whole time we were there and were told by the end of the weekend this was due to cancellations. We asked reception on the bank holiday Monday if we could delay our departure by a few hours due to poor driving conditions but was only given 2 hrs.....sorry...thought there had been a lot of cancellations. Not very helpful. The tractor guys were very friendly though. Our stay was also hampered by the caravan next door having a domestic two nights running with the police turning up the first night, 3-4 am rowing the next night and they let their dog out to do its business off the lead running around the caravans. A good spirit kept us going. Shame as the site was potentially good.

Second visit to site

You can not fault the wardens as they kept the site clean and tidy as well as being very friendly and helpful when needed.Great site will be back, also the building works did not interfere with our stay there.

First trip of 2016

We stayed 5 nights in March and had a peaceful time the area is very good for days out and the site is quiet and has good facilities even though they were being updated during our stay. The only drawback were the builders leaving very limited access for walking in and out. The main area was fenced off and a temporary path made around the side. All safe and OK except it was almost impossible to use with a wheel chair/electric scooter as pebbles had been used to make the path as bad as Brighton beach ending in a normal Kerb drop and tight turn. The very helpful wardens seem not to be able to correct this except by emailing offsite office!!! We had been warned of the work but assured full access for disabled was available but this clearly was not the case.

Nice Site

Stayed for 2 weeks in March, met up with some friends. Stayed on a fully serviced pitch, was possibly the best pitch on the site. Bit cold but the weather was OK. Dog walk was useful. Many nice places to visit without driving too far, Dogs were allowed on the beaches before 1st May. WiFi aslo useful. Building work didn't cause us a problem. Good site if you like rabbit pie!!!
