Good location for ferry crossing

We've booked a ferry pitch for the night of our arrival from Calais. We didn't know in advance if we could manage an arrival until 8 pm but there was no problem in getting inside to our pitch. Very friendly staff on phone, nice pitch, clean facilities.

perfect stop for dover crossing

the location of this site makes it perfect for ferry or tunnel crossings to France. WE had booked ferry pitches for both our outward and return trips. On the day we were due to return we received a call informing us of the barrier code and where to find our pitch information. We had expected the onus to be on us to ring for the information. However the staff had anticipated difficulties in contacting them and went out of their way to make sure we could stay with No difficulties.

Not great

We stayed one night on a ferry pitch, which was very convenient. Sadly, the site did not inform us either in advance or on arrival that building works were taking place. We were allocated the pitch closest to the work, and had to leave the site for the afternoon to escape the noise. Very poor communication - if we had been told what was happening it would have been understandable and we would have accepted the situation happily.

Black horse farm

Good site but noisy with construction going on and cutting grass. Lots of wild rabbits about which is a bit of a pain when you take dogs with you.

June break

We stayed at this site in early June. We had a super pitch. On approaching the site the sign is hidden in the hedgerow, but it is situated opposite the newsagent. Turning into the waiting area watch out for the humps over the wires crossing the road. They are higher than your average sleeping policeman bump. Nice welcome at reception and the pitch we had was brilliant. There is a lot of coming and going on the site as it is so near to the Tunnel and Ferries. We visited most of the English Heritage coastal sites ( just about saved our annual fee ). Dover Castle is a great visit. Aim to spend a day there, it is well worth the list. The bus service to Canterbury is great. Every 20 minutes and well worth the trip. Supermarkets are near by. We would recommend the local Lidl, great prices and offers. This is a well run and clean site, ideally situated for visiting Kent holiday sites.

2 1 night stands!

We used this site in May and June going to and returning from our channel ferry crossing. We found the wardens both friendly and helpful and very efficient. We hadn't used this site before, but for the purpose of pre and post crossings it was ideal and certainly fit for purpose and will definitely use this site in the future. There was minor inconvenience whilst building works were being done but it will be an improvement when completed so no gripes there. Well done girls and boys, keep up your good work!

One night stay 4/6/2016

We only stayed here the one night on our way to Dover. Lovely site and lady on reception was lovely and very helpful. Toilets were spotless as was the whole site. Lots of lovely rabbits about, not sure everybody felt the same way! We went to the pub across the road, forget it's name and to be honest didn't look much from the outside but the food was lovely and service really good. Will definitely stop here if heading over to France againx

One night stay 10/06/2016

As always we use Blackhorse as an over night stop before going into Europe. What ever wardens are on duty there, they are always helpful. We will be using the site again in July when we take our next trip into Europe.

Hardstanding Awning Pegs

Enjoyed our stay using a serviced pitch which was great except that the base was so hard it was almost impossible to hammer in pegs and removing those that we did manage to partly hammer in was again very difficult. Standard tools for removal were almost useless and bent!
