We spent 6 days here over whitsun, the site is very pretty with lots of mature trees and shrubs with caravan pitches in clusters of 6 or so. Sounds idealic but in reality not very user friendly. As our journey took us 6 hrs we didn't arrive until 2pm and was told by the wardens that the site was almost full, I was advised that everyone is required to park up their unit and then wonder round the site to find a pitch, due to the size of the site and all the little nooks and crannies that pitches are squeezed into this took us almost another hour. We found out selves pitched under large trees which worried me because of the wind and branches or worse falling on my van. Wardens were friendly and did their job well. Battle is nice little village with lots of History, Hastings seemed to be run down with lots of down and outs hanging around. Bexhill on sea is much nicer! And Eastbourne is even better. To be honest I don't think this area will be on our return to soon list ??

Shady Days!

This is a beautiful site with lots of cute little areas and larger open areas too. The walls and steps of the old garden are clearly still visible which makes it an interesting site to wander around. Some of the site roads are very hilly and narrow so beware (the pitches are flat though.) We were given the last available grass pitch which was right next to the football area (not recommended if you want peace and quiet.) Usual club standards for cleanliness and facilities and great for days out to the coast. I recommend the ride down the Cuckoo Trail to Eastbourne. Off road for 95% of the way and pretty in parts.

Lovely clean and friendly

This is our first caravan club site, we were blown away with the quality of the site. Previously we had stayed at commercial sites and this one was a lot better quality. The only issue we had was a motorbike rally down the road - we were on the pitch next to the entrance (21) and the bike were roaring up and down the road at high speed all morning - this isnt the sites fault. Before they arrived it was very quiet. The wardens were very friendly and allowed us to look around to pick a pitch from the few that remained. The toilet blocks were really impressive, spotless and welcoming. One strange observation was one of the blocks played music and the other didn't. The kids loved playing in the surrounding trees making and play area - they made loads of new friends, we were relaxed with them going around exploring the campsite. Battle, and Battle abbey is a five minute drive and beautiful little town. Bodiam castle is worth a visit, Hastings is a lovely seaside town but very expensive parking - look towards pier end of the town up the hill for more reasonable parking charges. Looking forward to return to this gem of a site - There is so much to do in the surrounding area we need another week to continue our exploration.

Great site

Great site for us and our kids love it and feel safe. Friendly staff, scenic pitches and a great pub (squirrel inn) down the road. Will be back next bank holiday.

Disappointing

We booked our stay here several weeks in advance for the May bank holiday. On arrival at lunchtime, we only had a few pitches to choose from, ones by the quite noisy road or ones in areas of no sunshine. We opted for the latter in an out of the way corner away from the many children on site with their scooters and bikes. The pitch was near a stepped footpath but this didn't stop the kids racing up and down on their bikes. The pitch was also near some kind of tank which produced a constant running water sound. We had a disappointing weekend and could only watch everyone else enjoying the sunshine from our shady corner. The site was quite a way from Battle and the walks around the site were not very good and dogs had to be kept on a lead on the walk off site which was a bit unnecessary. All in all the site did not live up to expectations.

Worth a visit

We stayed over the May bank holiday , the site is layed out over several sections and some of the pitches near the road can be noisey,did not use the facility's so can comment on them , the walk through to Catsfield is worth it ,with a village shop when you get there , ice cream and a drink and then amble back , lots of wildlife to see along the way

Lovely site but staff let it down

Have just returned from a bank holiday weekend at Battle club site. Lovely site well maintained and facilities very clean, great for families as lovely walks from the site and lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Unfortunately for us the site was let down by the unfriendly, unwelcoming staff who seemed at times quite rude, what a shame for such a lovely site to be so badly let down by the staff.

4 Nights at Normanhurst

Good location for discovering East Sussex and Kent wardens friendly and helpful. Facilities spotless even though the site was full. Found some of the cubicles rather narrow . Our grass pitch was used as a cut through for children playing in the central bush area which we found rather annoying as our dogs barked every time they ran cycled or scootered through the pitch . I did not bring it to the attention of the wardens so will moan no more. It was rather frustrating to find that dogs on leads only at the request of local landowners onto the 1066 walk from the short site dog walk (second moan). All said a very pretty site.

A lovely club site

Stayed here over the early May Bank Holiday. This is probably the loveliest Club site we have stayed at with it's tiered layout and many pitches tucked away within trees or shrubs. It would be nice if all Club sites were laid out like this. Facilities were up to the usual high CC standard. There is plenty of places to (lead) walk your dog, and a pub within reasonable walking distance (just over a mile). While we were there we also took our motorhome down to the coast for the day so the dog could have a good run (Pett Level Road has plenty of places to park). Definately a club site I would recommend.

Lovely Relaxing Site

This is our first visit to this site and we were very impressed with the layout on different levels. Facilities were first class and the grounds were very well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We look forward to a returning visit. from Dawn & John Worner 17th May 2016
