Lovely site with cosy cul de sacs

A lovely rural site. The old manor grounds walls give it some character. The 'cul de sac' style of layouts made for a cosy feel to the site. This does mean that on arrival you need to walk the site to select your pitch as if you drove round you would get stuck with a caravan on the back - but a small price to pay for the vibe it gives the place. A good mix of hardstanding and grass pitches. We stayed for 5 nights. It has a nice playground as well as a ball games area (the area in front of one of the goals was rather muddy) and the kids enjoyed and made extensive use of both. There is a nice (family friendly distance) walk to the White Hart at Catsfield. The food there was very nice. Bexhill seafront was very pleasant (& had free parking). We will definitely be returning to this site.

Fantastic site

We brought the kids here for a Saturday night, first time at a club site altogether and we had a brilliant time. Everyone was really friendly, the kids had a great time and made lots of new friends. We will definitely be returning in the very near future.

Nice short break

A great site that was exactly what we were looking for. Needed somewhere close to home to give us a shakedown. Site is very nice, Fish & Chips from battle, really good, close to Eastbourne & Hastings. Nice family weekend, we will go again.

Lovely site, well placed for many interesting visits.

This site is beautifully landscaped, with trees and shrubs of aboretum quality. Many of the pitches are in small groupings which have an enclosed and "private" atmosphere. There are a number of levels, with the land sloping generally towards the south. We stayed in mid July, and our pitch number was 71, one of a small group of 4. We appreciated the chipping surface when it rained, but did have to use a levelling wedge because of a cross fall. The welcome and reception at check in time was exemplary. After selecting our pitch we returned to pick up our gate card. Amenity blocks were of the highest standard, one with music, one without! The 1066 Countryside Walk is great and directly accessed from the site. It's a very pretty walk to Catsfield to the south. If you walk farther afield, dog owners might like to know that the path crosses fields containing livestock. Catsfield seems to be the place to catch a bus for Battle - but make sure you get a timetable from the information room as frequency is about one and a half hours in the middle of the day. The "must sees" are Battle, Hastings old Town, Rye (5 star) and Winchelsea. None of these are too far from the site. A super visit for us and one we would like to repeat.

Very quiet

We turned up at Normanhurst On Thursday 20th July and stayed 3 nights. We have used this site a few times over the past 4 years, this time we stayed on Pitch 81 it was like a little circle that had 5 caravans in. In the past we have always stayed on pitches around 115 to 120 right next to one of the shower blocks We have never known this site to be so quiet, as in noise, it has never been a noisy site, but this outing is was extremely quiet even though the site was quite full, it was a lovely and relaxing few days, we are thinking of going back September or October. On our last day we were told about a 1-1/2 mile walk to Cats field along a path through the woods where there was a pub that does food, so we will defiantly try that next time. The site was immaculate which we come to expect from CC site.

Once again, a first class stay

We have been to this site many times and, once again this site maintains club standards. Hospitable, hard working wardens were very attentive and helpful - long may this site continue to shine.

Interesting break

We chose this site due to its proximity to Hastings and Battle. Not stayed in this area before, so was looking forward to a change. The usual warm welcome. We was advised to park up the caravan and walk round to find our pitch. It is a lovely site, in the grounds of a large house. There was evidence of the grand steps which I guess led down from the former house. Very well laid out, nothing too regimental made the site very nice, choice of grass and hardstanding. We was blessed with very hot weather, so to be able to sit out on an evening listening to the owls was very relaxing. We visited Battle Abbey and battlefield, which we found very interesting. Hastings is a lovely place and worth a visit. Especially the old part and old fishing huts. We didn't walk from the site, or use any local pubs so can not comment on that. The sites facilities were up to the clubs usual standard. We would certainly stay there again, should we visit that area in the future.

Really Nice Club Site

Stayed here in April and enjoyed a lovely 5 days. The site is lovely because of the informal layout and access to lovely walks...especially the one to the village pub which serves great food. Wardens and facilities are excellent and we would certainly stay here again. We normally prefer CLs but could not find one which had availability for our dates.

A Great Site

We have just returned from a 16 night stay at this lovely site. There are plenty of varied pitches to choose from and a good dog walk. Toilets and showers were cleaned extremely well and the staff were very pleasant. There are lots of areas to explore including the "Bluebell Line" steam railway and if like us you are a National Trust member there are plenty of places to visit we took in at least 8 whilst there one of which was Churchills former home. Many of the NT places now let dogs into the grounds as long as they were on short leads which was great for us as it meant we could visit more of the places with our 2 little ones.

Nice site - stuff to do with the pooch as well

Nice site - usual high standard of facilities and friendly club staff. We were not there in the school holidays so perhaps why quieter etc. Not the usual "car park" pitches, they're sprinkled around the grounds of the old garden, much prettier. Took the dog - nice walk down the dog walk to Catsfield (it's about 1 and a quarter miles down a good track through the countryside) where there's a dog friendly pub for lunch. We had dog on a long lead which she's used to, but as another reviewer said, if yours wants to free roam you may have a problem - there are signs saying gamekeepers carry guns!! Battle Abbey is English Heritage and dogs are admitted (except in the gatehouse display). Pretty much all ruins but the audio recording made an informative few hours walking the battlefield and site ruins. Admission was about £11 for non members (bit pricey maybe, take your own view) Battle village again most shops happy with dogs - not a great deal there but a few interesting bits to while away an hour and have tea. Hastings old town good. Quirky anitquey / bric a brac type shops, pubs all OK for dogs. Interesting little fisherman's museum (again pooch OK) - free admission (asks for a donation). Not big, but interesting. We spent a pleasant few house in the Old Town. Parking about £6
