Not as Dog friendly as other local CC sites.

We last went to this site in the 80's Still very nice, clean & tidy and peaceful. Some of the pitch's are on sloping ground so corner steady blocks / leveling ramps can come in very handy. Wardens seemed OK the little contact we had with them but we were very disappointed with the dog walk which was a key factor in our booking choice. It's a public footpath (as far as I'm aware) which is part of the 1066 walk, is just over a mile long and leads to the local pub. The problem is there are signs saying to keep dogs on leads at all times. I have no problem with that but have we had known this we would not have booked. I think the club should make dog owners aware of this restriction. The local pub is great, good food and is very dog friendly. Normanhurst Court is a great place to base yourself for exploring the Sussex coast line with some lovely beaches to explore. There is a real gem close by at Pett Level with plenty of free parking for cars and MH's (parts of the beach do not allow dogs May -September) but there is still plenty of other space you can use. Do heed the advice in the hand book about NOT using a Sat Nav. The post code is generic for the area and we ended up going down a lane that became very narrow and had to do a 3 point turn with car and 22ft caravan. Luckily we found a gate to a field set back from the road to reverse in to. As a foot note, Fairlight Wood CC site, not that far away from Normanhurst Court is a much better option for dog owners.

Mixed Feelings

First impressions of this site was that it was impressive, with friendly and helpful wardens. This was not to stay positive due to the problems we incurred whilst staying for a week. The first pitch we choose had large shrubs which had been cut back and children on site had made a den out of the left over wood before our arrival. This turned out to be an issue as the children were play- fighting around our outfit with large sticks. I approached the warden who was very helpful and suggested putting up signs the next day saying that the wooded area was out of bounds. We decided to change pitch and was disappointed again, as other members allowed their dogs to play around pitches unleashed and not controlled. We had family visit and two dogs run off their pitch to chase after our young children. We had to remind the dog owners that the dogs should be on leads and under control at all times. We also had other dog owners walking around the site with dogs off leads and fouling not cleaned up. As members do not have to pay for dogs is it not about time the club puts in place a fee and perhaps people will be more responsible. The filthy standards that the toilet/shower facilities are often left in on this site were appalling, and we feel sorry for the wardens who have the job of cleaning up. Disappointing stay.

Lovely 1st Site

This was the first site we stayed at after joining the club. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a great choice of pitches and we chose to stay at the top of the site nearer the road. There was a little noise from traffic but overall a very peaceful place to stay. The toilet and shower block were excellent and very warm and clean. We walked along the main road to The Squirrel pub (20mins) and had a very nice meal. Lots of places nearby to visit. Would stay again!

Really lovely site

We visited this site for three nights just after Easter and we think this is the best Club site that we have used so far. The facilites were excellent and spotless as you would expect, but the pleasant surprise was the choice of pitches. You can choose from the more regimented, traditional Club pitches or be in a little bay amongst the trees. There is also a terraced part as a result of being within a former garden. This really gives the place character and a relaxed atmosphere. The play equipment and play area is also very good. There is direct access to the 1066 Country Walk from the site which we made use of walking the mile or so to Catsfield for a drink in the White Hart pub. We would definitely visit again.

Top Wardens

We have been with the Club for over 20 years and can honestly say that the wardens were the friendliest, most welcoming and helpful couple that we have experienced to date. Please pass on our thanks for a very enjoyable early break arriving on 4th April Peter & Chris Collins
