A little oasis in centre of a busy city

We have just returned from a three night stay here and really enjoyed it , location is great - ok a little difficult to get to but then it is in a busy city , central for everything in Bristol , right on the river which has an excellent water taxi service throughout the day ,even the weather was in our favour . 20-25 min walk into Bristol centre if you fancy a stroll . Some reasonable places to eat particularly in the harbour district , lovely parks and downs in Clifton which is about 40 minutes walk but mostly uphill . The site itself was without fault - ok there is always some road noise and the roar from the football stadium could be heard now and again but like I said you are in a city . Met some nice people including a young family from Plymouth who had just started motor-homing

First visit

Stayed here at the start of August for three nights, weather wasn't very good but this didn't stop us having an enjoyable time. EHU bollard had TV connection so tv worked well. Our pitch was near the road but the traffic noise didn't bother us at all, in fact the seagulls made more noise. The beauty of this site is being able to go through the back gate from the site and you are immediately by the river. We sat on the bench by the river watching boats go by. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. This was our first visit but we shall certainly try to come here again in the future.

Adverage Site

I am not sure why this site gets such a good rating. It's very difficult to get to in a motor home and the whole area is grubby, as is the centre of Bristol. On the plus side the Wardens are friendly and informative.

Another fabulous stay

This is the third time we've stayed at Baltic Wharf and each time it gets better. This time it felt particularly relaxed. The location is incredibly convenient, with the boat stopping just outside to take you to the city centre. We heard a few more police sirens this time but you're in a city and the site is very quiet considering its location. It's a nice site with lots of trees and you can sit outside on the wharfside in the evening to watch the sunset and the people enjoying their boats. My only gripe is that it fills up so quickly and it's not always possible to get a booking but it's hardly surprising given what a great site it is for vising Bristol! I'll definitely be back as many times as we can get a space as we have family in Bristol and it's a cheap, convenient way to visit them.

We also discovered a really nice walk through the historic boatyard to the Lockside Cafe for a very nice breakfast.

Noisey neighbours

This site is ideal for visiting Bristol, but not a site if you want peace, quiet and birdsong. Facilities are understandably a little dated, as the future of the site is unknown, but were spotlessly clean. The Wardens were friendly and helpful. However our stay was spoilt by the inconsiderate people pitched near us who were talking and laughing until 12.15 am. This not what we expect from a club site! This was our last night and we informed the Wardens on our departure and were told that they would speak to those concerned.

A Big Disappointment

This was our first visit to this site and, I may add, was recommended. Cleanliness of the facilities and friendliness of the Wardens was faultless. However, the noise from traffic and people in the nearby pub, and on the waterfront, was unbearable at night. Having travelled from the beautiful site at Broadway we were expecting much more!! There is virtually no 'greenery' and the hard standing pitches are literally that. Grey, large stones. It is also a very cramped site where you feel you are living with the people next door. Fine if that is what you like but, for the price, I would expect more space. Ideal if you want to visit Bristol and all the city has to offer but certainly not for rest and relaxation.

One of Our Favourites

One of our favourite sites to visit, its so central to walk into Bristol, always plenty going on  and the hidden gem is the gate from the camp site to the water front.  SS Great Britain a short walk away. So glad it did not close down.  The wardens are really friendly and make you feel welcome.  Thank you .

Excellent to see Bristol a very Grey site

We arrived early as we had a good Journey from Brecon Caravan Club site, this did not go down well with the lady warden.... Not a good start. We love this site as being a little oasis in the middle of Bristol this does take the shine of the visit. The hole site is very dull with grey chipping. One would have expected the facilities of the  Club to be upgraded for the money they charge, and squeeze as many vans as possible and not allowing the use of canopies over night.  If is wasn't for its location this site would hardly be used.
