leave our site alone

Fantastic site in an excellent location.  Very clean and well maintained. Have been as many times as we can and will continue to do so which also means money is being spent in the city.  If the site were to close we will not be the only ones who will cease visiting Bristol. We love this site.

Ship shape...

An impressive location with (relatively easy) access from the M4 via the M32 or the M5...so much to do in and around the site, which is very well managed and maintained 'ship shape and Bristol fashion' by the wardens Christian and Anthony, who provide a warm welcome to all and (IMHO) are a credit to the CC ...for real ale lovers a great CAMRA pub - the Orchid - is nearby...and a walk along Baltic Wharf takes you to numerous museums, restaurants, bars and art centres (too many to list here)...and for anyone who enjoys cycling, there are lots of trails/routes accessible direct from the site in around Bristol, including one that takes you all the way to Bath or along the Avon under Brunel's Clifton Suspension bridge (Awe inspiring)...or around the various wharfs...overall a cracking little site which is understandably popular...10/10...

Great city site

We love visiting this site, love getting into Bristol either by walking along the riverside (I can but my husband needs the bus or ferry)  but would love timetables for the local bus that stops outside the site.  Unable to get one from the site, the bus or tourist information, so one on the wall in the information kiosk would be useful. Getting into the city was great, but my disabled husband had to get a taxi when we couldn't find the return bus times.  Great site though, and I too wish the club good luck in keeping it.

Why so few awning pitches?

I know the rule and regulations regarding spacing between units but there did seem to be ample space on at least some of the non awning pitches to make them suitable to be awning pitches without losing any of the total number of pitches. I was surprised at how quiet the site was, little or no traffic noise from the road, the noise from the river was pleasant, the rowing teams and the noise from their rowlocks !!! Also hearing the enjoyment of the children in the yachting and canoeing classes. I would certainly recommend a visit to the M shed museum (past when walking into Bristol) and if you are lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour ,as we were, jump at the chance. While in the M shed we were taken into the adjoining L shed where some of the things are stored that due to lack of space are not on open display. All free of charge. I found Bristol to be very disjointed and can think of a number of other cities to visit again in preference. I seem therefore to be one of the few who cannot see themselves visiting again

pitch availability

only 10 white pitches ,3 had caravan and awning which we wanted, the other 7 had motor homes with no awning or car.why can't white pitches be reserved for  people who want car ,caravan/motor home and awning. This is getting more of a problem with the increase of blue pitches.Apart from this gripe we had a great time, hope this problem can be resolved

Superb city site

Never managed to get in before, wow what were we missing!  Gate on site opens onto riverside path, 20 mins to city centre, or you can get a ferry.  A few steps in the other direction is a pub overlooking the water where you can sit outside and watch the sun go down (and they serve great food, beer and wine!) Stunning view from our caravan took in the iconic coloured cottages and the suspension bridge. Such a quiet spot which really surprised us, the only sound at night was from the boatyard (the masts tinkling) and some Canada geese on the river.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fight the council over the lease, it's an amazing jewel in the Caravan Club's UK crown, and really not an ideal location for a school, due to it's proximity to the river. Nearly forgot to mention the friendly hard-working and dog-friendly wardens.

Our Favourite

Once again we had a fantastic week on this our favourite site.    The Wardens were exceptional and the local facilities top class.   Too many wonderful places to visit to mention.    There is no other site to compare with it.    Such a pity we shall shortly lose this fantastic site as the lease is nearly up and its popularity means you have to be quick off the mark to find a booking slot.   Let's hope a long term solution can be found and we shall continue to enjoy our trips to Bristol and the Baltic Wharf.

Excellent site

Had a 3 night stay here in April, the location is faultless. Right next to a busy city with loads to do. Access to the city is literally on your doorstep out of the rear gate. Walk, cycle or catch the water taxi less than 100m from the gate.  The site is busy and there is some road noise but it is not overpowering. Facilities are to usual club standard and are kept spotlessly clean by the very friendly wardens. There is a pub 100m away which has very good beer and serves food, we didn't eat there but it gets good reviews. The more I read what I type I can't wait to go back!!

Great place to stay

We have been trying to book this site over the school holidays for over two years and finally managed to this year and we weren't disappointed with the venue. The facilities are somewhat tired and dated (probably not updated due to the threat of the council taking back the land and closing it down), but are always kept in a very clean state.  There are plenty of water points dotted around such a small site (based on our experience to date) and are less than a minutes walk from your pitch; again these are kept spotless. The site's main attribute is its excellent location and access to many of the places to visit in and around Bristol.  The river is on the other side of the hedge and makes for some excellent walking and there seems to be so much going on and around it.  We were presented with rowing and sailing events on most of the days we were at the site and the pub just to the left of the river access gate serves good food and beer, perfect combination.  I could go on and on about what you can do during your stay, but leave it up to you to explore; needless to say, the world is your oyster should you chose to visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly, polite and always engaged with you. Hopefully our next visit will not take us three years to achieve because this is certainly a site we would love to come back and visit.
