Mixed thoughts

Just returned from spending 5 days at baltic wharf.  We thought we must go there as its always booked up, we were lucky to get 5 days after Easter.  We arrived at 12, a lot of roadworks along the site road.  We took note of the busy main road and pitched up along the boating centre side by the cottage pub. We found this to be a wrong choice as at nights the bottles from the pub were thrown into the wheelie bins and the smell of cooking all day was awful. The site is small and very little grass anywhere to be found, so if you have a doggie like we did, you found yourself walking a long way.  We went through the site gate and your on the harbour with a walk to the museums and SS Great Britain which was beautiful now restored.  I must say Bristol is a lively city, the harbour side at nights is very busy but surprised us to see so many people begging and sleeping rough. We Live near a city and don't have that.  We also  noticed so much graffiti everywhere.  If you would like a nice place to eat Zaa Zaa bazaar is all you can eat,  different cuisine, and you have to book.   Well we are glad we came to see Baltic wharf but sorry probably won't return as we now prefer more greenery.  I must add the man in the little shop outside the main gate should learn some manners, he was rude and didn't deserve my custom.

Great stay

This is one of the best sites - it is centrally located - you can take a ferry to get into the main shopping area. The site is not huge but plenty of space between pitches.  The site is extremely clean and has all the usual facilities. This site is very popular and sometimes you have to book months in advance. Only a small amount of pitches which can have awnings so you need to book really early if you want one of those pitches.  We had been looking forward to this weekend for some time but unfortunately I became ill on the first night which resulted in a visit to A&E and meant we had to leave the site early.  We were there for the Bristol Pilot Gig Regatta which hubby was taking part in.  The site was right next to where the Regatta was taking place. There is a pub right next door to the site but we did not experience any noise from this.  The pub does food all day.  We have already booked to go back later in the year.  The ferry stop is right outside the pub. The SS Great Britain is barely half a mile in the other direction to the pub.  The map shows that there is another pub/restaurant but because of me being unwell we did not check it out.

Great Location

First time at this site and we were really surprised . Such a great location for walking or catching the ferry. Very interesting development of the dockside . Lots to do and see. The site is very well looked after and the Wardens very helpful and pleasant . The only down side is the traffic in Bristol getting to the site . We hope to return again .

Fantastic location

We stayed at Baltic Wharf over the Easter period and we had an amazing time even though the weather was mixed. Friday was the best day for the weather so we got up early and walked from the site up to the suspension bridge and around Clifton village which is beautiful and then down into the town centre for a mid afternoon meal. We caught the ferry from Bristol marina back to the caravan site which is so convenient when you need to rest your tired legs!! The next few days passed with lots of walking, eating and fresh air, absolutely brilliant. 10 out of 10.

Great for a city-break

The site is superbly situated for a trip to the large and busy city of Bristol.  literally exit via the rear gate and you are two minutes from the water links across the river or the river cruises.  It is also a nice stroll to the town centre taking at a slow saunter about an hour.  There are pubs and eateries a plenty along the river front.  The location has a really nice and friendly atmosphere! The only negatives are it is not a site to just sit and relax in your van, there is no view, very little grass and nowhere to let your dog off.  Almost like staying in a posh carpark with nice facilities.  The site is next to a main road at the front and the trucks thundered past all night, we were situated next to that road, not sure you would hear it so bad on the riverside of the site. Please don't let the negative bits put you off coming, for a city break this is a REALLY GREAT SITE.  Just remember it is a city site, not a relax in the countryside!

Great location

Great site on the waterfront within walking distance to Bristol centre and Cliffton Bridge and Village. Lots to do in the area for adults and children (although site is small so no play area).  Facilities usual CC standards and service from wardens good. We managed to get a cancellation for 3 nights which we were able to extend when we were there. Wardens happy for people to ring the site regarding availability as they do get cancellations.  We hope to make a return visit.

ANOTHER FANTASTIC BREAK

We love this site.  It is perfectly placed for walking to almost anywhere, depending on your levels of fitness.  Every time we go, we find something new to see or do.  We have never had a bad pitch, there is always plenty of room between vans, everywhere is kept neat and tidy.  The toilet block is in need of an update, but with an uncertain future, it is sensible not to spend too much money!   It is however, kept beautifully clean and was very warm and cosy this week.  Bristol is a fabulous city, so vibrant and interesting.  We will never tire of it.  Long may it stay open!!

Great Site

This is definitely a site to return to.  It is so well maintained and cleaned.  Although always full, it feels spacious. Perfect location.  And this time, no hurricane Imogen, but wonderful weather.  Long may the site remain (whatever the weather!).
