Gem of a site

Stayed for a night following a visit to nearby Chartwell House. Warm welcome. Although there was minor aircraft noise during the evening (Gatwick?) this is a peaceful site. Squirrels and birds a plenty. Lots of tress, bushes and foliage which creates a relaxing atmosphere close to the Metropolis. Facilities are spotlessly clean, pitches placed well apart. Hope to return in the near future.

Pleasant site

Second time we have used this site, this time as a southern stop off on our way to Dover and Europe. The site is well managed and clean, toilet blocks seem to have had a coat of paint since our last visit and were much more acceptable. All in all a pleasant site and would be happy to return.

Great for families aged 4+

Caravanned here at the weekend.  Lovely site and we have been here many times before.  Great dog walk, beautful scenery. The park as it is signposted is for aged 5+.  I have a 2, 6 and 7 year old and not suitable for the 2 year old at all.  Would be great to have a small slide or something suitable for this age range too as they do in many other sites eg Cirencester. Also, very surprised and disappointed that there are recycling facilities on site but not for glass.  Surely in this day and age glass recycling is a must. Next trip booked for the school holidays already!

Convenient location, but...

I lost my earlier review, so here goes again! We stayed here on the late May Bank Hol weekend - the site was very full, but we weren't too fussed as we were only staying for two nights to attend our son's wedding. The wardens were friendly, welcoming and helpful - we needed help with a tractor getting our caravan onto the pitch as the roadway was narrow and the closeness of the caravan opposite stretched my reversing ability very thin! The site is well laid out, but there are some issues. We didn't realise we had pitched near a Silver Birch tree - a few hours later the caravan was covered in sticky sap. These really shouldn't be planted on club sites. The facilities were very clean, but need refurbishing - they are not up to excellent current Club standards. There are a number of dirty and uncared for looking caravans on seasonal pitches, which rather spoil the character of the site, which is a pity. My wife and I separately experienced people smoking in the toilet blocks, which both surprised and disappointed us. Others have mentioned the potholed roadway around the site - despite other comments, I think this really should be addressed - there is one narrrow section with potholes and adverse camber. Finally (!) as others have mentioned, it is really important to follow the Club instructions for arriving at the site - the few extra miles are worth it for avoiding the incredibly narrow direct route. Although the wardens helpfully gave me verbal directions for leaving the site, we got horribly lost, and satnav was useless as usual! It would be really helpful if the site office could provide a simple sketch map of the best route back to the M23/M25 for visual learners like me! Overall, although there were a few issues, the site did serve its purpose, and the wedding was a delight!

Good access to London

We have stayed here a umber of times and find the site clean and well kept. With very easy access to the M25 it is good to get around the South of England. Also good for access to London with good train service from Purley. Be careful when arriving though and follow instructions from site and NOT the sat nav as this takes you up a very narrow lane.

first club site

Our first club site, on arrival the barrier was closed we were told to stay in the late arrivals as we got there at about 8.30pm not thinking we wouldn't get in. So we parked up got the elec on and water made a cuppa and settled in for the night. Next morning we got in and told we could pick any pitch. We found one and started to set up. Its a very quiet site the toilets are clean and the showers are lovely. We have booked for later in the year as it's a great site near to the theme parks and London.

Peaceful break

Very popular site but not crammed on top of each other. The shop is very small and minimal so take the basics with you. Very clean facilities and the showers are great except in the disabled room where the showers are very slow. There is no clubhouse so the children played in the park and with the outdoor chess but they wanted more by the end of the week. The bus to Redhill runs hourly from the site or the taxi is about £6. Redhill has plenty of shops and on Thursday there is a street market. The owners were very helpful. A site I would recommend if you just want peace and quiet like we did.

A good Easter Break

Site was almost full when we arrived so didn't have much choice of a pitch, however we selected our spot and it was very quiet.  The grass was very wet and slippery but this was not the wardens fault - they were aware of the problems and had offered assistance if we should need it. We didn't.  Wardens were very friendly and welcoming. Lots of people have moaned about the loop you have to do to get there off of the M25.  It is no hassle. An extra 5 miles to your journey which takes a few minutes.  Better to be safe than sorry.  Excellent directions to get there. The pot holes are nothing to worry about either. I've encountered far worse near me. You're on holiday - relax and enjoy!! My only little niggle was the shower blocks which are maybe not up to the standard of other sites.  They are spotlessly clean as they always are on CC sites, but they do need a little updating. No bench to put things on when in the shower. A stool is provided but they are always wet.  All in all a lovely site and I would definately go back.
