spur of the moment

As the weather was good we decided to go to Alderstead heath as its only just over an hour away from us. We had a lovely time and thought the site was very clean in beautiful surroundings. The walks surrounding the park are amazing and peaceful. I know it has been mentioned a few times about the potholes, but when you live in kent these were nothing in comparison to the potholes around here! The wardens were very friendly and we will definitely return.

Out of season weekend away

Lots of caravans that seem to be pitched up year round. Due to it's location some inevitable motorway noise. Lots of pot holes on the approach road and all around the site, I wonder how many negative comments have to be left before something gets done.

Ideal for London & exploring Surrey/Kent

This was our first visit to this site. We received a nice welcome from the friendly and helpful wardens. The road leading to the site entrance is in a very poor state of repair and there are large potholes. When we were there the lane became flooded covering the pot holes. Drive with extreme care! Unfortunately the initial impression of the site is marred by a collection of workers caravans and motor homes which are not pleasing on the eye. There was a very large red converted double decker bus immediately outside the toilet block. There are also a considerable number of seasonal pitched caravans of which many were unoccupied. The site however is in an ideal location for visiting London (South Coulson station is a short drive a way) and it is only about 30 minutes by train. The trains run frequently and late which enabled us to go to a show in the West End. It is also ideal for exploring Surrey and Kent. Chartwell is well worth a visit. The site, apart from the workers area near the reception, is well laid out and spacious. Only one shower and toilet block was open and it is in need of refurbishment. I hate to continue the grumble but the access road around the site needs to be resurfaced in places. There are some pleasant walks from the site. Despite my negative observations we enjoyed our stay and would certainly visit again.

We like this site a lot and have used it many times over a number of years. However we do feel that both toilet blocks should be open especially at busy times. Whenever we have stayed over the last year there was only one block open and two of the closets in the ladies were locked off. Also the site is now giving the appearance at times of a shanty town with many workers staying there for long periods. Things are left outside vans and sign written vehicles are allowed on site.

It's still a lovely site

We have stayed at Alderstead Heath several times, and enjoy it. It is a nice site, which is great for families. The access road to it, does need some tidying though. The other thing I found was that in the mens toilets the hand dryer is ridiculously low. I'm not tall, but it was really low. I will certainly be staying there again, although it does need a little bit of painting in my opinion. Also the wifi wasn't great, but didn't mark it down for that.

A great site

This was our third visit to Alderstead Heath, we find it a brilliant location for heading into London as Merstham station is a five minute drive from the site, its then a 20 minute train journey into either Victoria or London bridge station, our day ticket for a family of 5 with our family and friends card was £25 and that included the use of the underground and the buses. the facilities were again spotless, and this time I had to use the disabled room which was very well geared up for anyone with mobility problems. I think the only draw backs to this site are the pot holes on the road to the entrance and the actual road system to get to the site, do not follow sat nav directions read the directions in the site guide, you end up travelling a couple of miles in the wrong direction to then go around a roundabout to get you on the right road, this is obviously not anything to do with the CC its the road layout. On the morning we were leaving we had a flat tyre on the car, the reception staff were very helpful giving us the phone numbers for the nearest kwik fit. I am sure we will return again in the next few years its a really lovely site!

A lovely site.

We have been to this site a number of times and it is always excellent but, as others have said, it is a bit of a pain to get to and from. You MUST follow the directions in the handbook. The wardens were very pleasant and the site is well cared for. It is generally very quiet except when there are children enjoying themselves. The worst noise usually comes from the warden's tractor/mower. Why do those things always sound as though they need to change to a higher gear? The only two criticisms I would make are - 1 - There are lots of potholes in one large section of the roadway that are in urgent need of resurfacing. 2 - I appreciate that some members need speed humps to persuade them to keep their speed down but at Alderstead Heath they are way too much of a bump to get over meaning 1 mph to ease over them.

Good overnight stop, however....................

Never particularly keen on CC sites (we prefer CLs), this was a good experience. We stayed only one night. Showers and toilets lovely and clean. Site wardens lovely. Very busy for Thursday although having arrived we apparently booked for the bargain 50% Off per pitch per night, that will be why! Absolute pig of a place to get to and from, we would therfore not do an overnight again: too much hassle. If you are planning a longer stay would probably recommend. Lots of what appeared to be seasonal pitches and mobile homes, site respected by those that live on it. Do use the site recommended directions, they are easy to follow and you WILL get very lost if you don't. We have not scored for a family because we don't do children, we had no choice but to leave a score so have given the lowest score although we are not qualified to do so. Perhaps CC need to leave this score as voluntary??????

Good site that I will be returning to in the future.Located in a nice rural area.Not the easiest to find off the motorways but a little planning with a map and adhering to the club directions provided no problems.

Stopped overnight,

We used this site for an o/night on the way to Dover, wish we'd gone on to Black Horse. Nothing against the site, it was clean and tidy, it's just the road system around there is a nightmare and to get out on our way again, there were no road signs to get us back on the m25. Not everybody has or wants a sat.nav. Mr. Cameron. Wardens were friendly with a good attitude though.
