Camping pods - what a good idea

When we stayed in our caravan, at the end of October, our daughter stayed in a camping pod. It worked extremely well. The pod was clean and tidy and, essential for my "cold" daughter, it was warm and cosy. It is such a good idea as you have all the benefits of camping, without having to worry about your tent and without being restricted to the summer months.

Great for London

Stayed at Abbey Wood, again, at the end of October. It's great to be able to trust that the site will be just right each time we visit. Wardens Pete and Sandra do a great job, with a good team around them. The only thing of concern is a lot of music noise from the shower blocks, when they are being cleaned. Otherwise, the showers are spotless and very cosy and warm in the colder months. This site is perfectly placed for visiting London, either by train or by bus.

Abbey Wood-quiet & wild life

Excellent camp site, we followed the recommended route and signs to get there, there are a lot of speed bumps on the suggested route, but expected as the site is in a urban area. The site itself is tranquil, interupted by the wild parakeets that seem to flourish there. Squirrels are also a common site. Easy access to the railway station, and retail shopping at Lakeside. The onsite facilities were superb and the freindly wardens were exceptional, a credit to our club.

Great few days in London!

The site is located in a tranquil wooded park well protected and easy to reach. The site is well looked after with the usual clean toilet and shower blocks and welcoming staff. The trip into London by rail is very easy and well serviced from Abbey Wood or take a trip to Grenwich and pick up The Clipper or DLR all are really good. Would highly recommend this site.

Great site to visit London

We stayed for the October half term week at Abbey Wood. It really is a beautiful, calm, tree filled oasis in London. The sweet chestnuts were plentiful when we were there for any adventurous caravan cooks out there! It's a short walk to Abbey Wood station from which there are very regular trains to central London taking around half an hour. Crossrail is coming to Abbey Wood which will make it faster. There's also a new enormous Sainsburys with parking nearby so you can be well supplied. Great staff, usual excellent CC facilities. Recommended

Ideal Site

Every time we visit Abbey Wood ( for our visits to London) we are so impressed with it all. It's so clean, it's so tidy and it's so ideal for buses and trains to just about anywhere you want to go in London or the South East. The team are always helpful, even when leaf sweeping!!. Just do it....

Great Location

We spent 4 nights at this lovely site in half term week with our son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren. Had a brilliant time. 5 minutes walk to the station and half an hour into London. Don't miss Greenwich. Royal Observatory and Cutty Sark. Facilities were the usual high caravan club standard and the wardens were very friendly and helpful. Our 2nd visit and certainly won't be the last.

What a gem!

I arrived here in my camper with my 12 year old son. The object was for me do "do" London as a tourist after previously visiting only on business. Because it was 1/2 term the site was very busy and could only let us have the Weds and Thurs, but the very helpful warden suggested that Crystal Palace may have space for the Mon & Tues. Abbey wood is very well placed for transport into London by bus, train and soon crossrail. The DLR is also close, journey time into Westminster is about 50 min by bus or into Charring Cross by overground train about 40 mins. The site is very clean despite being full, the staff very helpful. All in all a brilliant experience.

Good site

Good site for London easy access via the train to charring cross very safe and security gate  The only downside is the drivers that think it is acceptable to drive around the site at over 5mph they should think it could be there child that gets hurt or anyone else come to that  Other than that a very clean site
