What is there not to like...

I've stayed at Abbey Wood a few times and being one of only two CC sites inside the M25 it is invaluable. The site itself is very secure and quiet considering its location. We always use the train once on site - the station only being a few minutes walk away - and come 2018 the new cross rail service will get you into central London in 12 minutes! Even now the journey into London isn't a chore and with so much to do you'll need to come back again and again. During my last visit I was working on 12 geology time trails in south east London (each 1-2 miles long). They are designed for non-experts and one of the trails starts from Abbey Wood station, taking you to a site close by where you can find 55 million year old shark's teeth! Find out more here - http://www.audiotrails.co.uk/discovering-sharks-teeth-in-south-east-london/ The wardens on site are very friendly and helpful and if you time your visit right you can be the beneficiary of free sweet chestnuts too!

A gem of a site

Our first time at this site, and what a gem it is! Firstly, it's very easy to reach from the Dartmouth Crossing, all dual carriageway until a mile or so from the site. Secondly, it's ideally situated for London, with Abbey Wood station only 5 minutes walk and the 180 bus to Woolwich (change for onwards) even closer. Note that the station is closed at the weekends as a new station is being built. Thirdly, superb facilities and welcoming staff. Fourthly, a rural, quiet location - but don't leave your shoes outside ad the foxes will take one (?). All in all, thank you for a great stay and we'll be back.

Highly Recommend

It was our first time at Abby Wood and what a Gem. We stayed 2 nights on the first night we arrived late and the staff were extremely helpful. The train station is down the road a 5minute walk. It is under construction at the moment but the station have put busses on to take you to the next nearest station that takes you straight to Tower Bridge. Abby Woods staff are so helpful and the site is super clean. We'll be back again. ??

Unexpectedd gem

The entrance to the site has huge steel gates, however do look further. Sandra and her husband the wardens, will be leaving the site and transferring to Devon. They will be a very hard act to follow. We have met her several times over recent years and the welcome has never changed......insults, jokes, but a lovely approach. We sadly had leave due to family illness, and again, her understanding of our situation meant a great deal. The site, full of trees and only 15 minutes walk to a main line railway to London. Thank you one and all for a lovely time.

Peace in the City

The most friendly welcome at a Club site in over 30 years. No jobs worth, just perfect. Christmas eve arrival and such a great start. All "wardens" should sample this site to learn... Pitches spacious, and landscaping makes it feel cosy for a big site. Great site, location perfect for London. £1.50 on the bus to Greenwich. Like a country garden, not a London suburb. Of course once out of the gates, welcome to the metropolis, noise and bustle.  Facilities kept spotless over Christmas. Well done to the whole site team, thanks. Already booked for return visits...

London visit

You enter an oasis of greenery amid the flats and semis at Abbey Wood. Ideally placed for an overground train into Canon Street, cost under £18 return for 2. The site is good for bird watching, especially green parrots! They are not quiet though. Good size pitches and excellent facilities on site. The staff at reception are very helpful. The site is perfectly placed for a visit into London to take in a show. For somewhere different get off at Greenwich and have a look at the Cutty Sark as well as the park.

Exceeded Expectations

Knowing the area from 50years ago we were not expecting much,, What a pleasant surprise beautifully kept site in a woodland setting. Train Station 10 min walk away then regular trains into the centre of London, No Gestapo Wardens here just very nice and friendly people. Will defiantly stop again when in the area

Just the job for the Christmas shopping

We stayed at Crystal Palace last year but decided to try Abby Wood this time and I'm glad we did. This site suited us almost perfectly for our trips into the big shopping centres. Just one moan, the wi-fi is rubbish! Good thing it's not a priority with us but would be nice if it worked as well as most of those at independent sites. Which, incidently, are also mostly free.

Our favourite Club site

This site is always, immaculately kept and the staff always welcoming and helpful. Site location is very easy to find from M25 and close to the station to get into the west end. We're looking forward to our next visit.
