Long Weekend

We stayed at this site for 3 nights in September.  You wouldn't think it is so near to the hustle and bustle of the city!  It is so peaceful yet only a few minutes walk away from the train station into London.  The site itself is very well kept and the facilities are very clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble.  Would definitely recommend and would go back!

Great site

I don't normally do a review but we had a great 5 days at abbey wood. We found the drive to the site easy from the m25. Hardly any traffic mid morning or late pm. The site facilities were great. The train or bus were within 10 minute stroll. 30 minutes into London on the train. Big new sainsburys right by the train station. Site so quiet you would never believe you were in the city! Great site. Will be back.

Great Site

We stayed here for two nights in June, we were so impressed that we came back for six nights in September. This site is amazing, so close to London but feels like you are in the country. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Toilet blocks are clean and well looked after, the pitches are all different, hard standing or grass. Also there were Green Parrots flying around. I would have no hesitation in recommending this site.

Green oasis.

I love this site situated on the edge of "The Big Smoke" ! The area around is not so appealing but don't let that put you off. A green oasis within a short distance of the City. Big trees, loads of squirrels and birds. The train station is a short walk for frequent trains into the centre. We drove into Greenwich which took us 20 minutes at 9 am on a Saturday morning. We were able to park at my daughters but there were at least two non barrier car parks in Greenwich. The facilities were spotless as you come to expect from the Caravan Club. A small, children's play area near the tent field. The hard standings were spacious and for the most part level. I will stay here again, a cheap way to visit London !

Great few days...

We are two aged 60s with a small campervan. Just spent two great nights at Abbey Wood. Spacious pitches, hard standings with grass and mature trees around them and toilet block with underfloor heating which delighted my husband! Day one we followed Green Chain walk on our bikes out to the Thames and then cycled along bank to Thames barrier. Sadly cafe closed  but luckily loos open. Cycled back using quieter roads and our A to Z. Day two we did 5 min walk to Abbey Wood station and caught train to London Bridge(£12 each including all day tube/ bus use). Easy 35 min journey brought us v close to Shard. We had a look round Shard shop/display area then walked from Tower Bridge to Lambeth Bridge enjoying sites along the way, ending up at the recently installed ' Rising Tides' sculptures in the river.  Then made our way using A to Z via Lambeth Walk ( yes we sang the song!) towards Imperial War museum - free entry. Had not allowed enough time here and will certainly go back.  Then tube and back to London Bridge  and 'home' to Abbey Wood. Great day out.  Ps just behind Guys Hospital we stumbled on nice grassy area with benches which was part of Kings College. Close by was a small Sainsburies where we bought a cheap picnic.

Good balance of convenience and peacefulness

We loved Abbey Wood for its non-regimented, spacious layout with a variety of pitches among the mature trees. The location is close enough to London to make it do-able as a city break (it took us between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to get to/from London, depending on time of day) whilst also being quiet and secluded with very little road noise discernable on the site. Grocery shops are a short walk away. Friendly welcome and the staff were flexible about our arrival time. Clean facilities, free showers with plenty of hot water. Would come again.

Strimming around the caravan

Second time at Abbey Wood, still a clean & tidy site in a lovely tree lined site which blocks out the surrounding environment. Great location to grab the train and hit the sites, we came down for the Barbarian v Samoa game at the Olympic Stadium. We were upset to have the caravan showered with debris by one of the staff who was strimming way to close to the caravan. He stopped and moved on after we protested.
