An Oasis in London

Abbey Wood is a veritable oasis amidst the sprawl of London. A beautiful campsite, in perfect location for taking public transport into London. Very high standard of cleanliness and a great dog walking area just down the road. Quiet, with friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Great Site.

This is a great site and perfect if you are visiting London.  Really quiet and peaceful despite its central location.  We had squirrels popping by to say hi and birds singing.  Really felt rural which is definitely isn't! Facilities are spotless.  Play park was small but adequate.  My 7 year old enjoyed it.  We caught the 180 bus which is a short walk from the site so we could visit Greenwich. Wardens helpful.  We would come again and recommend this to others.

Great Site

Just spent 3 nights at this lovely site. It is a lovely site set amongst trees and the pitches are large. The toilets and showers were immaculate and lovely and warm. Abbey Wood train station is only a 10 minute walk away with easy access into London. It was ideal for the London Marathon. There is a large Sainsburys within walking distance too. We would definitely stay at this site again. Wardens were very nice and helpful as well.

What a find!

We have just spent 4 nights at this amazing site. The staff keep the site in immaculate order , are very friendly and helpful indeed. They provide a vast array of info about getting around on public transport from the site. It is hard to believe that this site is so close to London City, a real peaceful haven. Pitches are very large , nicely set out to provide a great deal of privacy. The large toilet blocks were fully open, pristine cleanliness and well heated. Thank you to all the staff, if you haven't been here don't be put off by access, very easy to find from M25 , basically one road and if you use the travel directions provided on the site page you can't go wrong. We will certainly be going back.

A very lovely spot!

We spent two weeks there and can highly recommend this campsite! A really great place with perfectly manicured pitches and facilities. Very clean and quiet with a good connection (10-minute walk) to the train station. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great base

A leafy site with good transport links to all the attractions that London offers. Yes there is a bit of noise from planes but it didn't disturb us. It's a short walk to bus stops, and the station is just a few minutes away with regular trains into Charing Cross. The Green Chain is a 40 mile chain of linked footpaths through SE London that passes very close to the site and proved a smashing route for a jog (not the whole 40 miles you understand!)  We would definitely use this site again for our next visit to the capital.

Pity about the Abbey pub

Great site with perfect level hardstanding pitches and clean facilities. Pity about the only local pub though which didn't allow dogs. Only a stop over for us, so didn't get chance to explore more. New wardens who were very helpful.

Abbey Wood Stop

Another stay at this brilliant site for access to London however, take note of Cross Rail works as Saturday we had to find the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Town and Sunday had a bus service to Plumstead (the next rail stop) and then find the DLR from Woolwich. Can add 20/30 mins to trip. Sainsbury's open the North side of the station which has a Café for the obligatory cooked breakfast if you do not fancy the Abbey Café on the way to the station. Plane noise from London City Airport noticeable if wind in wrong direction from about 0645 ish. With friendly staff and excellent facilities, a great place to stay.
