The future

Although this fledging site has only been open approx 6 weeks the large number of positive reviews it has already received are all merited. It is sites like this that I feel are the future of the club, as a member since 1986 it is not quite the best (yet) but hopefully in time it will be. All of the reasons why one may use a CL are ticked... views, peace, walks, cycling on and off road, the countryside (smells as well), whilst only 40 minute walk to a pub along quiet lanes. Linked to a lovely host this site has it all. (‘but you do need a 15m hose to link straight to your van from your private tap) I would like to think we will return, but Rachel’s booking diary is filling fast!

Top Marks All Round!!

Just returned from an excellent stay at this new CL. Booking via email was straightforward and Rachel was on hand when we arrived to give us any relevant information. Large, level hard standing pitches which are serviced with EHU, water and waste. Small block housing shower and toilet (we didn't use them but they looked very clean). Lovely views across the farm fields - great to see the cows coming in and out for milking. Plenty of walking straight from the site - lots of quiet lane but Sherston is a bustling little village. All in all, a lovely CL - we shall return (if we can get in).

Hard to beat

I can only agree with all the previous reviews. The welcome was warm and friendly, you were then left to yourselves, but Rachel was around every day if you needed to see her about anything. The views are very nice and open and we enjoyed watching the cows going out after being milked. The nearest village of Sherston is 2 miles away and has 2 pubs and a small outdoor cafe/coffee stop at Lucy Tomms that is very popular with local cyclists, and make good coffee in a converted house box. We enjoyed cycling on the quiet lanes,Malmesbury is less than 5 fairly flat miles away,Castle Combe was a bit further but still a nice ride, big hill to climb on the way out. All in all a great CL that would be hard to beat, quiet, friendly and with spotless facilities. We will be back for sure.

Perfection!

I'd spent a week looking for a CL with hardstandings and serviced pitches. Someone suggested I try this site and they were able to meet all my requirement. It is a newly established CL (writing this in Sept 2020) and has been formed by fencing off part of a field on a working dairy farm. All the pitches are huge in size with a hard standing area that is large enough for a caravan and car, or caravan and awning. Between each pitch, there is a massive grass area - probably the equivalent of 2 or 3 normal size pitches, so no feeling of being cramped here! We put the caravan n the hardstanding and the awning on the grass - no need for groundsheet or awning. All the pitches are accessed from a gravel roadway and the grass is orders of magnitude nicer than my lawn at home. Each pitch has a grey water drain, fresh water tap and mains hookup. Be aware that because of the size of the pitches, it is worth bringing a long hose to be sure of reaching the tap. In addition, there is a small loo block - a domestic toilet pan that serves as an Elsan point, a single loo and a room containing a loo, washbasin and shower. The location is remote, but not far away from many attractions. Bristol, Bath and the Cotswolds are all in easy distance. There is shopping in Tetbury or Malmesbury. Access is along narrow, single track roads, but there is almost no traffic (apart from tractors) and plenty of passing spaces. The instructions to find the site are 100% accurate and should be followed as access from other directions uses even narrower roads! All in all, a wonderful CL and one that we will return to in the future. I suspect it will be very popular!

Truly hidden gem,

Discovered this site while searching for a local to us CL. Little did we know it was brand new and we were the first to stay in this idyllic location. The site its self is well prepared for any caravan or motorhome compete with hard standing pitches all of which have electric hookups , water and drainage so a fully serviced pitch in essence. In total there are six very well spaced out pitches nearly twice as big as a standard CV&MH site pitch. We own a bessacarr 496 so at just under 8mtrs in length it can at times be a bit constrictive with pitches but the pitches here are not small in any means. The views are to die for with literally field's as far as the eye can see, there is a road that runs past the site but hardly any cars use it so it is very peaceful. The wardens are very friendly and helpful and basically once explained everything simply left us to it but were there if required. In terms of a CL we would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice relaxing break. Really nice location and will be coming here hopefully for years to come.
