Enjoyed a peaceful stay

We stayed at New Barn Farm at the end of September and beginning of October, Rachel welcomed us to the site and arranged for us to get some farm fresh eggs from her. Well kept site, ideally located for us as its well out of the way of hustle and bustle of busy areas. We had lovely time and will return.

A first class C.L.

We visited New Barn Farm CL with our caravan in June 2023. Rachel came from the farm and greeted us straight away. We picked the pitch next to the toilets and shower, which were cleaned daily and were always spic and span. No charge for the hot shower. All the pitches are hard standing and dead level with lots of room for the caravan and awning without using the grassy areas. There’s drinking water and grey water drainage on each pitch along with un-metered 16A electricity. The water pressure is very high so this may be a problem if direct connection to the caravan (as opposed to being via an aquaroll and pump) is used. We used the latter system but turned the water tap off every time we went out and last thing at night, as we always do. The site offers good views of open countryside to the north but there is no view to the south due to the very high hedge between to site and the road (Foxley Road). There are no outside lights on the site, which is a good thing in my opinion because stargazing is great (weather permitting) with virtually zero light pollution with no major towns close by. Foxley Road is very quiet. The approach to the site is straightforward from either direction on Foxley Road even though it’s single track. If you approach from the north via the A433 (as we did) there is a jog over a narrow bridge over the Sherston branch of the River Avon in Easton Grey which requires some care with a caravan. TV reception is good but can fade a little in the evening. Mobile reception (in my case EE) was a little flaky sometimes for both calls and data. A mobile modem/router with external antenna might work better than holding my phone against the window trying to get a signal. There’s lots to do. Many public footpaths (get a map), Stonehenge (although too busy to appreciate any sort of spirituality or atmosphere), Old Sarum (much better in that regard), close-by Westonbirt Arboretum with many kilometres of easy trails, most wheelchair friendly, the excellent Great Western Steam Museum in Swindon (where you can operate the levers in the old fashioned signal box and go in Queen Victoria’s Royal Train) to name but a few. A really enjoyable break. Chris and Trevor Armstrong

Perfect CL

A perfect CL. Rachel the host has this site just right. A lovely rural setting but within easy access to lots of places of interest. Fresh eggs available from the farm for breakfast was a bonus. Highly recommend.

Great site

The site was easy to book via email. (response was quick and efficient). The site has 5 hardstanding pitches, a must have requirement for us as the weather has been so wet! The site has water and electric at each generous pitch. All pitches have views of the surrounding countryside. There is a dog walk area for four legged campers. On site there are two toilets and one shower. The chemical disposable point is clean and under cover. Rachel visited us shortly after we arrived to say hello and gave us an information leaflet. The site is located two miles from the village of Sherston which has a co-op, pub and cafe, walkable or cycleable along quiet country roads. Malmbesbury is approx. 4 miles again walkable or cycleable along country roads. There are loads of walkways and bridleways in the area, we didn't try them as it was very muddy. This is a lovely well cared for site. Highly recommend.

A little gem

What a wonderful CL this is. Sitting here writing this review in glorious sunshine. It's hard to find any other words to praise this gem of a place that hasn't already been said before, so I will just reiterate what everyone else has said. Great hosts, great views, big fully serviced pitches, lovely clean facilities, all the grass areas on site are well-maintained, an excellent base for touring the local area. For a farm site it is remarkably quiet, just the occasional cow or cockrel to remind where you are. We used recommend directions given even though we were coming from the North so it added about 30 miles to our trip, but we are glad we used them as some of the other roads are very narrow.

Beautiful and quiet campsite

Just got back from a one night stay at this lovely campsite. We were the only motorhome and it was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Lovely view across the fields. Short walk to the fosseway and a scenic walk to the old Roman settlement. Facilities were spotless. Rachel was very helpful on email or phone and came out to see us once we arrived. Was given an information leaflet containing lots of information and phone numbers should we require services/food etc..Picnic tables available and even set up with flowers in February! Grass freshly mown. There is an allocated dog walking field also. All in all, a superb little site which is convenient for visiting Malmesbury and beyond.

Great break

Stayed at New Barn Farm at the end of October 22, this is a very busy site very popular with caravaners and motorhomes, we really enjoyed our time there, we are planning to return, visited some of our family that live in the area, great set up, friendly owners and very helpful. We got caught out with an unexpected gale force wind in the middle of the night once, this flattened our awning, probably not best time of year to have a larger awning up. Very happy with owners Jonathan and Rachel, the site and area.

Nice site

Nice level pitch over looking the countryside. EHU, water tap and waste drain on the pitch which is a plus for us! Peaceful at night. Toilet and shower on site which are kept clean. The owner came to see us the morning after we arrived, very friendly and helpful. It’s about a 40 min walk to Malmesbury, or a 10 min bike ride. Lovely village with coffee shops and pubs and nice shops to have a look around. Sherston is also close by, 15 min bike ride with a few coffee shops, well worth a visit. With it being a dairy farm there were quite a lot of flies around the site, can’t be helped I guess! Overall we had a lovely stay. 😊

Excellent, tranquil site

We had a great one night stay at New Barn Farm, chosen as it is well located for scenic walking and cycling. Met by a very friendly and helpful Rachel. Generous, well serviced pitches with hardstanding and large grass area overlooking a lovely view of countryside and cows. Spotless shower and toilets. We enjoyed making use of the lovely picnic table, complete with beautiful flowers overlooking the view and subsequent stunning sunset. Would definitely recommend.
