What a great CL

We stayed here in March and were very impressed with this site. So beautifully kept and excellent size pitches. Smashing location. Helpful owners. The Hunworth Bell which is just down the road served excellent food and had a friendly atmosphere. Location just out of Holt was good for us. Being caravanners themselves the owners have created an excellent CL. We hope to return to this site as there is so much to do in this area. Thank you.

A beautiful site, run by experienced and friendly caravaners

We stayed at Coney Heath for a couple of nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Roger and Marjorie are wonderful hosts, their site perfectly located near the Norfolk coast. We ventured out for a 7mi walk around Weybourne, taking in great views. There is a lovely pub within 1mi walking distance (Hunsworth), which is also worth a visit. Absolutely recommended and will definitely visit again.

Lovely!

Coney Heath was the perfect site for our very first outing ever having just bought our motor home. The owners were delightful and made us so welcome. They keep the site perfectly manicured. A real bonus for us was the bus stop right outside. There is some noise from the road at times but this didn’t concern us and it isn’t constant. We shall return if they’ll have us!

Short stay in Norfolk

We’ve just returned home from a short two night stay at Coney Heath CL. The reason for our visit was to go to Norwich Cathedral and it was perfect to do so. The bus can be hailed at the entrance and goes to Holt, a very attractive town inland from Cromer and Sherringham. From there the bus takes you to Norwich and its superb Cathedral. We were lucky to arrive in time for the guided tour which is to be recommended. Small details which would have been missed brought the history of the building to life and our guide Rachel had a wealth of knowledge to share. Don’t miss it. The CL site is excellent and could only be improved with a toilet. It is perfectly situated for visiting the many places of interest and is a haven of calm. Unfortunately the owners were not resident during our stay but had communicated with us by email and telephone prior to us arriving, accommodating our stay at short notice. Local knowledge and help with the facilities was provided by a very friendly couple who were also staying on the site at the time. This comes highly recommended by previous visitors and endorsed by us.

Cracking CL site

Just stayed here for 5 nights and were lucky with the weather for this time of year. Access was easy even with a 7.8m caravan. Took the furthest pitch from the road (No one else on site) and parked sideways in. All amenities, water, waste very conveniently placed. This site even has a TV aerial and cable to each pitch which we made use of. Good hardstanding pitch made the caravan very stable. Yes there is road noise but but not obtrusive. Easy access to Holt (1 mile) and sherringham (6 miles). We used gas for heating and electric for fridge ,microwave and a few other appliances and over the 5 nights the total was £19.00, but we did use a full 6kg gas bottle. Overall very enjoyable and we would return when next in the area.

Our best CL yet

What a fabulous site. Clean, well kept and lovely owners, who go out of their way to help make your stay easy and enjoyable. Take no notice of the ONE negative review. Some people will find anything to nit pick about. There is a little road noise at certain times of the day but thats fairly normal for most sites, as you need a road to get there don't you? On arrival we found we had no power. We checked the fuse box but could find no reason for it. I phoned Mrs Doy and she said they were out but would come back within 20 mins. We later found out they were having a belated fathers day lunch paid for by their daughter but never the less they abandoned the meal to come and help us. Roger thought it could be our cable and tried a spare he had. That did the trick. Between leaving home and hooking up our cable had failed. The pitch was level and the electric hookup and water waste were visable and easy to use. The notice board had a map of walks and cycle rides easily visable. We couldn't fault the site and a huge thank you to Roger and Marjorie for making our stay enjoyable and for their help in sorting out our problem. It's no wonder people go back again and again. My CL of the Year

My Cl of the year. This is the most attractive CL site I have been on and I have been on dozens over 40 years. I lost my motor mover remote control the site owner and another club member assisted in positioning of the caravan, this was much appreciated. There are only a small number of CL,s that provide water and grey waste at the pitch a really useful facility. the auto water connectors and pipes were also provided. The site is kept in immaculate condition and the owner was extremely friendly. The village of Holt 3/4 mile from the site is well worth visiting, great restaurants pubs and fish and chip bars. I will be returning in the future. Recommend that you enter the site from HOLT road.

Lovely Site but not quite what we hoped for.

Booked a last minute stay on this site as it appeared to have everything we wanted. Fortunately read the reviews before we left, so we were aware of the site entrance coming in from the road, which is easy to miss. No one to greet us, but we managed to find our pitch from the information board. We had pitch one, which seemed perfect, however, we had to search for the EHU point, which was down a dip away from pitch. This has been fitted with a meter, a reading of which we had to take on arrival. It is very difficult to see, and also to understand exactly what the reading is! The water supply was on one side and the drain on the other side, obviously this has been a problem previously, testified by the extensive length of waste pipe under a tree for use if needed. It became apparent quite soon that this wasn't going to be a tranquil stay, the road noise was very intrusive, day & night, and the 07.00am motor cyclist, who started his commute from about 3 miles away, was very audible, sounded like a jet fighter coming past. This is not a good site if you like walking or cycling, (as we do). The only option appeared to be the main road, which is extremely busy and not very wide. This is a lovely kept site, if you can put up with the above, sad to say we probably won't return.

Response from the Club:

Thank you for your review. The CL owners have been in touch as they would like to address your concerns. Access to the site is visible from the road but you do need to follow the directions given.
At the time of your stay, as caravanners themselves, the CL owners were on a caravan holiday. Whilst they were away, they left the site in the capable hands of their daughter, Sally, who always makes sure to visit everyone at some point during their stay. Please note that as it is a a CL site it is unlike a commercial site, therefore not manned continually. They endeavour to make things as clear and easy as possible for their guests, by writing guests names on a board and asking them to read the meter to make sure it matches their reading. The meter box is clearly visible from Pitch One.
It is not through any problems that the water/waste are on opposite sides of the pitch, but purely at the choice of the owners, hence the extra length of waste pipe provided.
It is quite a busy road but please be assured this is not constant and only at certain times of the day.
There is a walk from the site through fields/woodland/country lanes which also applies to cycling.
We hope this helps address your concerns and we are glad you found the site to be lovely and well kept.

Superb in every way

Coney Heath is a fabulous site. We now only use CLs and this is our favourite. Large, fully serviced pitches, all immaculately kept, set in fantastic grounds make this a jewel of the CL network. We adore the lack of light pollution and the night sky, the call of the owl and the plethora of birds that visit during the day. The site is perfectly place to access a range of locations, and the local town of Holt is a treasure. Three local walks provide plenty of "steps" and can lead one to the village of Hunworth. Local buses run past the entrance to the site and can be flagged down, providing good links to Holt, Sheringham and the Coast Hopper. Drivers will drop one off at the entrance again on return. Electricity is metered at a good price per unit which is the fairest way in our opinion and one pays for what one uses. We stay here three times a year for two or three week blocks and we look forward to our next visit in the Autumn. The Days are experienced caravanners themselves and this is a great example of a site designed and maintained by caravanners for caravanners.
