Beautiful, well maintained site, a bit like

We book CL's based on their descriptions in the handbook and this site was, like every other site we have stayed at over the last 15 years, described as 'peaceful'! Unfortunately, the road. less than 30 yards from our pitch, seems to be used like a race track, with cars blasting past at 60 mph every couple of minutes! That is not my idea of a 'peaceful' site, so we left after one night and found a CL a short distance away that WAS quiet and peaceful. Yes, this site does have good facilities, although both the waste disposal points on our pitch were blocked. Yes, it is handy for Holt, but if you want peace and quiet, try the CL's near Wighton, they are much quieter. In the middle of this site, there is a notice board with a message telling people that, if you leave before the end of your booked period, you are liable to pay for the whole stay! This is the only CL I have ever stayed on which had a similar notice, so I can only assume that other members have also not agreed with the full description of this site. This is the only CL I have ever stayed on that required £50 deposit! When I informed the owners that we were leaving and told them our reasons, they became quite aggressive and demanded payment for the night we had stayed AND kept the deposit - this was a very expensive nights stay!

Comment from the Club

Thank you for leaving a review. The CL Owners have been in touch as they work really hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time at their site and would like to address the concerns you have raised. They advised they find the word aggressive inaccurate and try to help guests wherever they can. The road does get busy for a couple of hours each morning and afternoon during rush hour but after that it quietens down considerably and they have never had anyone leave the site in 30 years of operation. If people ask when booking about road noise they are very honest about it.  As you had booked for a 2 week stay and they had held the booking for you for 9 months, they were £158 short for the 2 weeks and unlikely to resell the pitch at such short notice, this is why they charge a deposit which many CL sites do as they are small businesses and need to have some protection in order to be able to afford to continue operating. The notice on the board was actually from a fellow CL Owner on their advice as many CL Owners support each other and share information and advice.

Each individual pitch has their own waste disposal point and these are checked regularly. As with any concerns the CL Owners will do their utmost to help.

As you can see from previous reviews many members love this site and return year after year. We are sorry that you did not enjoy the site and that you were able to find one more suitable to your requirements.

Spring Break

We have used numerous cl's during our time caravanning and this definitely ranks as one of the best, it should be a cl winner of the year. As previously stated the owners are extremely helpful and friendly nothing is too much trouble for them. The pitches are all fully serviced hard standing and well spaced so everyone has the feeling of space around them. The site is well sheltered so when it is very windy like it was when we were there you will not have any worries about your caravan or awning. Whist there we ate at The Hunworth Bell in Hunworth which is just along the road from the site the food was excellent. We will certainly return and hopefully it will not be too long until we can do this. If you do decide to use this site we are sure you will not be disappointed.

Great CL

My wife and I love this CL and the local area. If adult only and no pets policy allow you to use this site then look no further for North Norfolk. Great National Trust Properties nearby. Holt is a lovely town, good pubs, take aways, cafes and restaurants. You must visit the unique traditional Independent department store Bakers and Larners. https://www.bakersandlarners.co.uk/ Beach & walks close by and choice of Sand or Pebbles, Blakeney, Morston, Holkham Hall,Sandringham, Sherringham and the Pier at Cromer. Roger and Marjorie are a joy too, so helpful and pleasant. They are Tourer owners too so have created a perfect CL for us all to enjoy and to return to. Glyn & Judy

Outstanding

No other word could describe this exceptional CL. Everything you would hope for but rarely find. Hardstandings, plenty of room, serviced pitches and all in a good location for visiting the many attractions in North Norfolk. Add in friendly welcome from the owners and you have the lot.

The best CL site in East Anglia.

My wife and I visited this CL during our first caravanning outing for 2018.We had booked in for 8 days during March and it was the very first time that we had been to this CL. It snowed and rained, it was also very cold for the time of the year but finally the sun came out. This CL in our opinion is the finest site in the whole of East Anglia. We found everything to be perfect for us. The site is compact, each pitch has hard standing, with individual electricity and water and waste drainage. The grassed area is maintained as a private lawned area. Mr & Mrs Doy couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The surrounding trees and hedges are maintained in an immaculate condition throughout. This is an ideal spot for members to stay whilst visiting the North Norfolk area. The only downside of this report is that if it increases the popularity of this CL, we might not be able to book in next time!! Jan & John Simpson, from Leicestershire

A gem of site

We stayed here for the first time for 6 nights in mid march. A really welcolming and well kept site. An ideal location for exploring north Norfolk. We did not experience too much road noise. We look forward to visiting again.

Extremely well kept site, but suffers from road noise.

The site is very well cared for. Pitches are fully serviced and large, all hard standing. On our arrival there was no one around but our pitch was marked with our name. So, no problems. All of the bins and wc emptying were easy to find. There was also an information board near these amenities. However, our pitch was next to the road and we found it very noisy. We would have preferred to have been sited further away from the road, where there was a free pitch. However, since there was no one to ask we remained where we’d been sited. Since we have a motorhome, we’d booked this site with the intention of walking into Holt. However, it soon became self-evident, after a short walk, that this would be extremely dangerous. There was no footpath, the road was very busy and the traffic travelled at high speed. Luckily, we had our own internet connection and were able to discover the times of the buses, that we could catch at the entrance, to Holt. We were also able to take a lovely circular walk in the adjacent area. If we were to return we would bring cycles or a scooter and ask to be sited away from the road.

Norfolk Hideaway

We have just spent eleven nights here, our first time but not our last. Site is so well laid out and generous pitches.Facilities excellent even down to TV aerial for each pitch. Roger and Marjorie are amazing hosts who will advise and help as much as they can. The location is great for short drives to the coast and most of Norfolks must see destinations and local amenities, including a recently opened country pub/restaurant in Hunworth called the Hunny bell 1 mile away, food delicious. See you next year.
