good comms before arriving, meet on arrival very friendly and helpful (wouldn't change my wheel though 8-> ) great site with nice loos and shower (free) pitches are nicely laid out and a good size, easy to get to sat nav takes you straight in. great position Glasgow, Edinburgh etc.
Visited this site for six nights just before Easter. Â We were met by Grant, the owner, who couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Â Were made to feel at home straight away. Â The site so deserves all its good reviews - it is immaculately kept and very clean. There is a lovely feel to the site which is in a great setting, so peaceful and quiet. Â Very central for lots of siteseeing too, we loved the Falkirk Wheel particularly. Â Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, we cannot praise them enough. Â We will definitely be recommending to our friends and will be back. Â Best c.l.Â
We used this stopping over back from highlands. Full hard standing with water on pitch. Excellent communication from owners with nice arrival pack. Good dog walking. Nice layout. Septic point up some steps but not an issue. Clean toilets. Loads of places nearby to visit. Close to falkirk wheel. Not far off motorway.
After three years of caravaning we have just returned from our first visit to the CL at Carrs Hill where we spent three nights. Carrs Hill is a well located site in Central Scotland situated in between Falkirk and Stirling on the M876 and M9 motorway networks with easy access to Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Trossachs. A nice local site for us with only about 30 mins travelling time. It is a pleasant and relaxing rural site with plenty of peace and quiet. We were greeted by the owner Grant who was very helpful even though it was raining heavily when we arrived. The site is about a mile away from the local village of Plean where there is a local shop, Post Office, Bakers, pub, indian takeaway and chip shop. There is an asda in Stenhousemuir which is not far away from the site. Plean Country Park is only about half a mile away too and a nice walk on a nice day. The pitches are a good size with well appointed and well kept shower and toilet facilities. We have enjoyed our stay here and we hope to return in the very near future.
We first stayed on holiday on this CL in August 2013 and found it to be kept immaculate both in the facilities and on the pitches. Grant (the owner) was very welcoming and helpful. The WiFi came in very useful and TV & mobile phone signal was good. In January of this year (2014), I again stayed here but as this was due to a family member being ill in a local hospice and who subsequently passed away I found Grant to be extremely accommodating, helpful and very understanding to my situation at that time. I cannot recommend this CL highly enough!! I intend returning to this site in the near future!
A very pleasant site with good views if you climb the hill as the CL is in a slight dip. Shower block is kept clean and tidy. It is near to lots of attractions, Bannockburn - The Falkirk Wheel - Stirling Castle - The Trossachs to name a few. A county park is close by which is excellent for dog walking etc.
We spent 4 nights at Carrs Hill as part of our holiday in Scotland, what a great CL. The directions to get there were first class, access was really easy, Grant (the owner) was very welcoming and helpful and access to WiFi was a real bonus. The owners have invested time and effort to make this an excellent location with well maintained grounds and facilities with spacious and level hard standing pitches. The historic city of Stirling is just down the road (use the park and ride) and access via the local train station (with free parking) gets you quickly to Edinburgh (or so we were told by Grant). A first class CL we totally agree with the other reviews and would not hesitate to recommend this site.
On arrival we were greeted by Grant who directed us to our pitch and also gave us an information pack. All pitches were well spaced, hard standing and facing the setting sun. The site was extremely clean and well kept - the lawns and flower borders well tended. The toilet and shower were always clean no matter when you used them. There was also a well stocked information room.
Ideally located for visiting the many attractions in Stirling - Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and Stirling Jail. We took a drive to Aberfoyle (Queen Elizabeth Forest Park) where I was talked into the 'Go Ape' experience (as advertised in the information room). This is a fantastic place, however I would recommend you book before you go as we had to wait until late afternoon before there was a slot. The park is lovely and well worth an explore - we found a waterfall, some hammocks and some 'mirror people'. Aberfoyle itself is beautiful and we spent a couple of hours browsing and called in for afternoon tea.
A drive to Bridge of Allan is a must - this is a lovely small town with lots of eating places and small shops. There is a micro brewery too which is worth a visit if you like beer - there are plenty to sample and buy.
The Falkirk Wheel is worth a visit - there's plenty there to keep young children entertained.
We hope to return to this site.
We spent 7 nights here in August 2013. It is a very nice, well maintained, quiet site with a friendly and welcoming owner. It is also well placed for many attractions such as the Falkirk Wheel, Sterling Castle, the Trossachs and Falkland Palace. Recommended.
Stayed here a few nights early July. A well laid out site immaculately kept by friendly helpful owners. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather, sunny enough to make us just want to stay on site all day, but there are so many places easily accessible from here. This place is a real find and we intend to return. As for paying a deposit, if you intend honouring your booking having paid a deposit just means you have less to pay when you get there, after all a holiday to us is a business to the owner.
