Outstanding site, peace and tranquility

Beautiful site..plenty of space between vans. Greated by staff and had choice of pitch plus all the information we needed. Our dogs loved the Dingle walk. Close proximity to various places of interest. Will definitely be booking again x

Fantastic welcome

This was the first time we have had the advantage of a video of the road access within a couple of miles of a site and was very useful. This was then enhanced with detailed emails which helped us to plan our visit, and a friendly and thorough welcome from Ian to an emaculate site with fabulous views was second to none. We could not have asked for more from Ian and Janet and this site will definitely go on our top 10 list! Sue and Neal Clements

Lovely site.

We stayed here for four nights in June 2021. Janet greeted us on arrival and showed us where we could pitch the caravan. Plenty of choice of pitches, each with their own dedicated water tap assigned. Two areas for elsan point, grey waste and recycling. The Dingle is a lovely dogs walk area which leads to footpaths across the fields. Very close to Ellesmere town which is very quaint. A fair selection of shops there and only a short walk to the mere, which is lovely. Top tip! Park by the co-op for 30p and hour and walk to the mere. Parking closer to the mere is a £1 and hour!. In all a good well kept site and we would be happy to return. Just wish the weather was as good.

IF YOU WANT PEACE AND QUIET THIS IS THE PLACE.

We stayed at Birch Hill last week for 7 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ian made us very welcome and walked us around the site so we could choose a spot that suited us. Each outfit is allocated their own fresh water tap and because of the spot we chose could run our waste into the adjoining field. This is a very pleasant site very clean and spacious and the views and sunsets were great. Ellesmere has a lovely mere and we enjoyed watching the narrow boats coming and going on the canal. Ian gave us plenty of information on the surrounding area which we made good use of. This is definitely a site we will be returning to and we were sorry to leave last week.

Lovely, peaceful, rural site on the border of Wales

We stayed for 3 nights in June 2021 at this great CL in Shropshire. It’s a really private setting, a large site with plenty of choice of large pitches and the panoramic views from the top of the site are amazing. We were met by Ian, who showed us round and offered us pitch options. Each pitch currently has its own water tap, and ours was nice and close by. We were really impressed with the communication before and after our stay with lots of suggestions of places to go. A nice touch was the selection of dog friendly attractions – a must for us. Ellesmere can be easily reached by road or the scenic route via the fields. Although longer, the scenic route is much nicer. Just to be aware though for dog owners, most of the stiles are well sheep fenced or gaps too small for most dogs to go through. We ended up carrying our Beagle over – although he quite got used to it in the end! Ellesmere is a small town with a couple of delis, butcher and supermarkets. We visited a couple of pubs, walked along the canal and around the Mere, stopping for ice creams. The Boathouse by the Mere looks really nice too, although we didn’t visit this time. This site is well run by Ian and Janet and their hard work really shows. It’s definitely on our list to return to.

Birch Hill CL, a great site.

We were made very welcome by Ian on arrival on the4th June for our 3 night stay. We were given a comprehensive tour of the site and some useful tips on places of interest. The Covid 19 precautions were very good and well thought out, leaving us feeling very safe. The pitches are large and well looked after and the views are wonderful, we also experienced some lovely sunsets. We walked into Ellesmere across country to the Mere and onto the canal, stopping for an Ice cream and later a coffee and a little wonder around the town. On a separate day we visited the Castle at Llangollen, a stiff walk to the top but well worth it for the views along the Dee valley. The only reason we gave four stars for the peace rating was that there was a lot of tractor work in the adjacent fields and some minor traffic noise. This is not in the control of the site and at different times of year would not cause a problem, so we will definitely be back here. Come and enjoy the site we highly recommend it. Paul Allum.

Lovely site

Arrived here just before a spell of really bad weather. Was met by Ian who explained everything and took time to show me the available spaces. This is a beautifully kept CL with plenty of space to pitch, some grass covered hard standing and the rest grass. Plenty of hook ups and a dedicated water tap for each pitch, not serviced pitches, to ensure COVID safety. Ellesmere is a gem of a town, with lots of lovely walks close by. The weather wasn’t great, it was May after all, but my stay was pleasant.

Peaceful site

A warm welcome from Ian on our arrival who explained everything we needed to know for our 6 night stay. The site is very tidy and has beautiful far reaching views. The pitches are also very spacious. It’s a safe walk on footpaths into Ellesmere where you will find the lovely meres and canal. Shrewsbury and Oswestry are both good places to visit within18 miles and there is an excellent farm shop and cafe at Battlefield. We have been visiting the Ellesmere area for many years and it never disappoints. We will definitely be returning to this CL.

Brief but enjoyable stay!

This was only our third weekend away since purchasing our new motorhome and our second since joining the CAMC. We arrived at Birch Hill about 5.30pm so things were just starting to go dark so we couldnt get a reall appreciation of the site until the next day. We chose to park by the side of the garage as we didnt realise that the grass areas are actually hard standings but where we did park had water and electric hook up close by and given that it was a stormy night we had protection from the garage :-). Ian and Janet were very helpful with anything that we needed given that this was only our 3rd outing so still relative novices. A lovely site with expansive views across plush green land. We enjoyed a long walk on the Saturday (once it had stopped raining) by going down the Dingle and following the marked out circular walk until we ran out of signs to direct us then we turned back getting back just before it went dark again. On the Sunday we departed at 11am and spent some time walking around Ellsemere and its lake. On a warn sunny day the site is one of the best I suspect and because it is only 70mins drive from us in Chester I am sure we will be back. Top tip! as you drive out of the site the cassette disposal point is by the gate so empty it as you leave rather than having to walk down the road with it.
