Stunning Location with amazing views & made to feel really welcome by Ian & Janet

Birch Hill Farm will be our 'go to' place whenever we need a break away from it all. Both Ian and Janet made us feel so very welcome - they have a beautiful CL and the views are stunning. It was so peaceful and you can choose whichever pitch you want - superb. It was our first time away in our new caravan and we were very nervous but it all went to plan and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ian also gave us plenty of leaflets of things to do around the area and gave us pointers of where we could eat that he recommended. We loved it that much we paid for an extra night (even though we couldn't use it as we had work the following day) just so we could stay until tea time on the Sunday - we felt completely relaxed by the time we went home and can't wait to return in the near future. Thoroughly recommend The Boat Inn at Erbistock - fantastic place for food and a drink overlooking the river. Local walk around Colemere was great too. A massive thanks to Ian and Janet

Excellent CL

Had a lovely weekend break at Birch hill farm. Great views, ease of choosing your own pitch, gentle cycle into Ellesmere town which has lots of pubs and eateries. Will definitely return! Thank you

Great CL

We went to this site for the first time quite a few years ago and decided to return. It is a lovely site, very peaceful with great views, also neat and tidy with plenty of water taps. The “Dingle” dog walk was great, our Golden Retrievers enjoyed it and particularly enjoyed the shade when really sunny. The owners dogs were adorable and so well behaved. Unfortunately we had a crisis while on site and Janet was lovely and helpful. We will be back.

A warm welcome

Welcomed by the owners who very very helpful in solving a problem with my wife's scooter. For which, many thanks! Pleasant and peaceful site. We enjoyed our stay.

Restful break amidst stunning scenery!

We stayed 3 nights on this beautifully maintained and well appointed site. Ian greeted us personally and gave us an information pack and advice on access for local shops and a variety of footpaths. Ellesmere town and surroundings are a delight to wander around and stretches alongside the Shropshire Union Canal provide a glimpse at the bygone days of water transport. The meres provide an attractive focal point for families and those who enjoy a quiet walk in nature. A site we hope to visit again for a longer stay. Christine & Eddie Welfare June 2022

One of our top sites

Beautiful site, large and airy with spectacular views over rolling hills of Shropshire to Wales . Pitches can accommodate awnings and wind breaks easily. Meticulously prepared from the easy to book website and comprehensive information sheet to the warm welcome by Ian, Janet and Amber. I agree with a previous reviewer that the main road is busy with heavy traffic. We were able to cross the fields and stiles with our spaniel but the road is the only downside. The Mere is a lovely walk with refreshments and plenty of seating on the north west shore. This was our second visit. We will visit again.

Excellent peaceful CL site

Picturesque location, lovely views and so peaceful. Ian and Janet are very welcoming and maintain the site to the highest possible standards. The pre visit information is top notch, especially as we are new to touring. All in all an excellent site which we would recommend highly and intend to re-visit.

Brilliant small aite

what a wonderful and personal involvement you receive via email before your arrival with hints and tips on local restaurants and places to visit, we were greeted so warmly by Ian and Amber the new mummy golden retriever. We chose our spot and that was it pure peace and quiet for a week, we saw a Hare most mornings and rabbits and squirrels. Location is so central to Wales and Shrewsbury, we didn't have enough time to visit all the places we wanted so will be coming back. It has spoiled us for other sites now. You are not on top of other caravans, lots of space for our dogs and awning. Ellesmere is beautiful we walked there most days with the dogs, cafes and pubs very dog friendly especially the Red Lion as they have a dog menu!

Pleasant six day stay

We arrived ahead of our allotted slot but Ian was on hand with a welcome and local information pack. We were shown around the CL and were free to choose our pitch which we chose on the lower field as we were not reliant on a good wi-fi signal plus our dog is better with her own company. During our stay we visited Cholmondeley castle gardens, Hawkstone park follies and Ellesmere & Oswestry. All in all a lovely quiet CL with plenty of space and plenty of service points.

A Very Well Managed CL

Our two short visits to this CL en-route to and from the Llyn Peninsula were both very enjoyable and it was good to find a site so well organised and managed. Communication was excellent with payments and comprehensive information available online. The arrival welcome was also well managed and the usual CL services all very satisfactory. Our only criticism was not of the site but of Shropshire County Council who have allowed nature to restrict the width of the pavement for much of the way into Ellesmere. We walked into town this way each day with our Labrador and the traffic passing so close to us on this narrow pavement was quite alarming at times. Unfortunately, the alternative access by footpaths with several stiles was not dog friendly. Access to parking for a motorhome in Ellesmere was very good but we usually prefer to walk or cycle on and off the sites we stay at. A very good CL in an excellent area for walking, cycling and eating and the best managed of all the many CLs we have visited.
