The lure of ehu

Just come off a Rally on an all singing and dancing commercial site.   They did a deal where the ehu was optional @£3 p/n.   28 vans 25 paid for ehu.  We didn’t refilled the gas bottle after we got back and it cost me £4.51, the bottle had been used for 4  nights on a clubsite so ehu and 3 nights non-ehu so 7 nights in total.

No moral to this story just numbers.

just like when Corners was the caretaker at schoolwink

Thanks! you realise that is a compliment right? Everyone fears the school caretaker from the headteacher down. Get on wrong side of him/her and your life is a misery and asking for anything will take all term. Get on the right side and all sorts of wonderful things happen - and they happen quickly.

Best advice I was given was always give them a good present at end of each term.

Don't think Derek Guyler from Please Sir, think the caretaker from scrubs

Seriously!

We have had a lovely German couple next to us for 2 nights, they come over every year and are hoping that things do not change at the end of this month,,and were saying that they love using club site as you can always get EHU which they would not like being without, and they can be sure that the standards at both clubs can be relied on to be good whereas on mainland Europe they can be very much hit and miss in a lot of areas

They do not own a campervan but higher one every year when ever the desire to travel bites again, the were in a Pilote PVC

The friendly club offers a reduction on pitch fees for those not requiring EHU of about £5 a night.

If you want to talk savings you can save up to £10.30 a night on pitch fees with the CAMC.

Have a look at Alderstead Heath. Pitch fees up to £11.80 at times whilst the non EHU stays at £1.50 all year.

I spent the first 16 years of my caravanning "life" without EHU simply because the new Monza caravan I bought in 1980 didn't have 240volt installed.and we travelled  widely in Europe and the UK without all the gadgets we now regard as essential but do I want to go back to having no modern conveniences of course not. We dont use sites without EHU and actually dont really think they qualify for the name Caravan site.

We have a Camping Gaz cylinder as a back up and it often lasts over a year, we cook and heat by electricity we watch a DVD in an evening, and charge all our battery powered gadgets. Do I think use of EHU makes us better or worse beings no and I would seriously consider an all electric van if it was available (Lunar tried it once for one year).
