The lure of ehu

Just come off a Rally on an all singing and dancing commercial site.   They did a deal where the ehu was optional @£3 p/n.   28 vans 25 paid for ehu.  We didn’t refilled the gas bottle after we got back and it cost me £4.51, the bottle had been used for 4  nights on a clubsite so ehu and 3 nights non-ehu so 7 nights in total.

No moral to this story just numbers.

Thanks, Corners, but I still don't get it. I doubt if I ever saw half of the "Star Trek" episodes and I don't remember any mention of shoes or shoemaking in the plots. Maybe when I meet on site one of you who is in the know, I can get talked through a slow explanation. Unless it is nothing more exciting than a way of being cheeky to BB and suggesting (s)he stick to the previous job.

When I built 'Millie', one of the most important aspects of her design was to make her as independent as possible which allows us the luxury of stopping on some truly amazing CL's where the very mentioning of the dreaded EHU letters is tantamount to swearing!!

The result of this is that we never stop on sites that offer the facility and indeed one of my main search objectives each year when the new guide comes out is to mark all the £10 and under per. night sites that I can find of which there are quite a lot and many of them are absolute tranquil gems.

The other advantage of all of these sites I have ever stopped on over the years is that I can't recall ever seeing an outfit with an infernal television on or indeed any music being played on some power sapping sound system.

Believe it or not, life can and does exist without mobile phones, tablets, televisions or those damnable EHU's

Isn’t it good that CLs meet the needs of everyone?

I'm pleased you're able to find the type of sites you like, MM, but maybe I don't wish to exist without my mobile phone, TV and so on. We all need to take care not to put down the choices of others in our enthusiasm for what suits us. Instead, let's celebrate those differences and the choices that await us.

That's great for you and I bet you've never had to book those sites.

So, no EHU, no facilities, no booking just turn up and stay or leave as you feel like it - sounds ideal for those who want and love ad hoc touring! smile

Excellent 👍 I know of a couple called Fred and Wilma Flintstone who love the old way of camping, they regularly go to the Bedrock site.

We have had a lovely German couple next to us for 2 nights, they come over every year and are hoping that things do not change at the end of this month,,and were saying that they love using club site as you can always get EHU which they would not like being without, and they can be sure that the standards at both clubs can be relied on to be good whereas on mainland Europe they can be very much hit and miss in a lot of areas

They do not own a campervan but higher one every year when ever the desire to travel bites again, the were in a Pilote PVC
