Hi everyone. A tweet from Kirsty at Morrisons confirms that they are on board with Safefill. Filling is now allowed at all their sites. Show the cylinder to the cashier and away you go. This is great news for those who use gas and want to save money.

Congratulations to Safefill for your dogged determination to bring this product to market against overwhelming odds! The first crack has appeared in the dam! Thanks to all those who wrote to Morrison’s to ask why they couldn’t fill and thanks to Morrison’s for approaching this with an open and enquiring mind to cut through the rumours lies and propaganda surrounding this exceptional product. It is a better world today for the LPG user.

We have a fixed refillable system with the filling point in the side of the van right at the front, filling hose therefor goes directly into the front locker where the bottles are secured in the normal way.

We decided to go for a fixed system so there would be no problem with being allowed to fill anywhere.

As we tour and are usually not on a site for more than 8 days at a time, we have no problem filling en route.

Long trips abroad mean we get through more than we could carry of Calor type cylinders.

Followed this discussion quietly for some time. As one of my Calor light cylinders is now empty I am toying with the idea of a Safefill, not because I use a lot of gas, i don't but more with the practicalities of only carrying one cylinder. I'll keep watching and reading. Be interested to hear/ read if anyone has difficulties filling a Morrisons.

Merve, you have been promoting Safefill on CT for many months if not years to the exclusion of other similar products.  You have been able to get away with it because it has been part of the “Thrive” thread mix.  However, IMO this thread is not simply about Morrisons filling these cylinders but blatant promotion of the Safefill product and company to the exclusion of others.  You also seem to be doing your best to suggest that other similar products will not be filled by Morrisons and have avoided my warnings about the difficulty of getting the cylinders filled abroad.  As far as I’m aware CT is not here as a free advertising medium.  I would not want anyone to be deprived of good advice but equally I don’t want to see them led to believe that there is no choice and that there are no drawbacks.

Yes, very funny! I’m cracking up!! I have said many times that Safefill is the one system I understand. I have not been promoting Safefill, I’ve been promoting cheaper ways of doing things- and I will continue to do so! - it just happens that Safefill fits that brilliantly-  and I have followed the ups and downs of Safefill for about 5 years. It is remarkable that Safefill is still here and we are all not paying hugely inflated prices for our gas!  It is remarkable to me that some people are not glad or excited about a new innovator that breaks the mound of the old guard but would rather have a go at someone who is bringing good news to the forum. I certainly do not mean to advertise Safefill on the forum and DD is shouting about other makes and other ‘direct fill’ cylinders and yet he has failed to bring to peoples attention by not even naming them.  All you can do is snipe at folk who are trying to help and educate newbies etc on here. It’s you that has the problem, not me! I am still waiting for info re other makes???? Old women or what!!

You shouldn’t have any problems Mitsi, and nor should anyone else. Safefill (or any other unknown make!) are the future I’m sure. About 25-30% of what you are paying for rental cylinders.

Merve, don’t stress it👍🏻. Some folk get real enjoyment from attacking others, it’s sad but true. You & I will never be BFF’s but I respect your stance, your choice & your attempts(now successful👍🏻) to start breaking up the stranglehold of the overchargers. Keep on keeping on continue the crusade brush aside the detractors.

PS-to the detractors-I have not now nor ever held shares in Merve👍🏻😂

Good as these self refillable ,level shut-off protected, LPG bottles are technically I repeat what I have said elsewhere, you have to be mindful of the market place.
As far as I know there are no manufacture supported LPG domestic vehicles presently being imported to the UK, there are only private imports and conversions.
I don't see that as being adequate to retain the amount of forecourt LPG pumps, and I certainly don't see our market demand taking over that role of retaining them. So, as I have seen locally LPG equipped forecourts are disappearing, hardly a difficult business decision to understand.
Before investing in self refillable it is in my opinion wise to take a view as to where and for how long you believe we will have access to LPG to refill them.
If that is a negative view so be it but it is a pragmatic one unless money means nothing, and my take on it is not one I would choose. I want a refillable but at every turn my options to practically refill one evaporate.

Gaslows “Direct is a stand alone take to pump bottle as the SF but does not benefit from the lighter composite construction.

Now now Boys and Girls!  Peace!  Merve has helped me save a lot of money one way and another with all his helpfulness - and yes I have bought a Safefill.  Merve talks about Safefills as do I because we don't know anything much of the other systems.  It is obviously  possible to fit other systems into caravans - however it is also a lot more expensive - it may also be easier to convince forecourt staff that fixed is safer than carrying round a lose cylinder.  So it really is very good news that Morrisons are accepting Safefills and possibly other free standing refillables?  I also understand that Morrison's have been lobbied by Safefill - and NO I don't have shares in them either but it is in my interest to let other people know they exist - as the more customers the more outlets there should be

The Safefill cylinders by the way are checked after 10 years.

PS Adaptors are available for use of the above cylinders (and probably all others too) when filling up in Europe.
