Hi everyone. A tweet from Kirsty at Morrisons confirms that they are on board with Safefill. Filling is now allowed at all their sites. Show the cylinder to the cashier and away you go. This is great news for those who use gas and want to save money.

Congratulations to Safefill for your dogged determination to bring this product to market against overwhelming odds! The first crack has appeared in the dam! Thanks to all those who wrote to Morrison’s to ask why they couldn’t fill and thanks to Morrison’s for approaching this with an open and enquiring mind to cut through the rumours lies and propaganda surrounding this exceptional product. It is a better world today for the LPG user.

Cylinders are tested every 10 yrs.

Posted on 21/07/2018 22:31

How is that monitored, when the cylinder is refilled by the purchaser,?

I can only repeat JVB what DD has said. You have a date of manufacture and in the end it is up to you. Registration with Safefill would be a good idea. My first inspection is in 5 years time and I will have all 3 done together even though the other two were bought at a later date. I would imagine the cylinder undergoes a pressure test similar to a divers tank etc.

I believe Kj fitted one to his caravan, Gaslow I think.

Yes, we have had a fitted Gaslow system since 2011 I think, must check.

We started with one 6kg cylinder and added a second 2 years later, our gas locker does not have enough height for the larger cylinder.

Yes, I will need to check the paperwork, but if I have remembered correctly, the first one is due to be checked in 2021, the other one in 2023.

We have a fixed refillable system with the filling point in the side of the van right at the front, filling hose therefor goes directly into the front locker where the bottles are secured in the normal way.

We decided to go for a fixed system so there would be no problem with being allowed to fill anywhere.

As we tour and are usually not on a site for more than 8 days at a time, we have no problem filling en route.

Long trips abroad mean we get through more than we could carry of Calor type cylinders.
