Hi everyone. A tweet from Kirsty at Morrisons confirms that they are on board with Safefill. Filling is now allowed at all their sites. Show the cylinder to the cashier and away you go. This is great news for those who use gas and want to save money.

Congratulations to Safefill for your dogged determination to bring this product to market against overwhelming odds! The first crack has appeared in the dam! Thanks to all those who wrote to Morrison’s to ask why they couldn’t fill and thanks to Morrison’s for approaching this with an open and enquiring mind to cut through the rumours lies and propaganda surrounding this exceptional product. It is a better world today for the LPG user.

PS Adaptors are available for use of the above cylinders (and probably all others too) when filling up in Europe.

I would like to know where you are going to have them inspected, as I have 2 with 2022 dates on them! My last conversation with Safefill was that they had no intention of setting up an inspection scheme. So after 10 years you throw them away and buy new ones from them!! Unless you want to set up a business inspecting Safefill cylinders, by then there should be quite a few out there needing inspection.

In my experience filling stations abroad won't allow "direct fill" cylinders to be filled.  They don't really understand the concept and like to see people connecting to a fixed point on the van.  Anyone planning to travel around Europe should be prepared for filling disappointment.

I have had no issues getting filled in Spain, France or the Netherlands. I haven't tried else where. Only one odd thing in Spain they wouldn't fill them unless they were inside the car!

I do hope this is the case.  I've learned to be cautious about tweets until there's an official statement on the website of the company concerned.  Especially when the tweet is at the weekend frown

Please can this thread be updated with success stories.  I'm unlikely to invest as the payback time is too long for me but it would be good to know for sure

If that is the case it would really put me off buying in the first place.  Perhaps Merve will comment.

Don't hold your breath.......

I've previously asked for clarification of how much recertification costs and where Safefill cylinders have to be taken or posted to for this......

Safefill is happily advertised, sorry, promoted on here but this issue is dodged....?

Rushallmanor- I am not surprised that you have had little difficulty as Safefill export their cylinders to the continent. Thanks for clearing that up!

As regards the retesting of Cylinders, firstly, the 10yrs time line is only a recommendation by Safefill  and has no basis in law. A leisure cylinder is not covered by the regulations anyway and for the reason no doubt that how do you police it.?  Let’s look at this problem. The last thing I am worried about in 10years time is getting my Safefills  - if I even decide to get my them tested. What concerns me more is will I be around in 10 yrs time!!

I will have had the cylinders for 10 years minimum- in that time I will have saved hundreds and hundreds of pounds against what I would have done -ie - had rental cylinders. If I decide after 10 years to dispose of it and buy another, am I going to worry about it? No! I will have probably saved 10 times what the cylinder cost me so I’m really not bothered. However, if someone set up in business testing and recertifying them and it was cheaper than buying a new cylinder then I would have to consider it. Otherwise, a new cylinder would adorn my locker. The Safefill is a convenience- a method of having gas at a far reduced price- it doesn’t suit everyone and I’ve said that many times. I have also said why I would have one even if my gas consumption was far less- I resent having to pay such high rental prices and I would bring to an end the ripoff element!! However, if Gaslow suits you or Gas it or Alugas or any other user /owner cylinder you come across - that’s fantastic and I’m pleased for you.

However, for me, I am an advocate of Safefill because I use them and have found them brilliant and extremely functional in that they offer  so much more than a rental cylinder in weight reduction, being able to see what gas you have etc etc. It is far more appealing to me to purchase a new cylinder after 10 years than to pay approx £18 for the container every time I swapped one with Calor for instance. Quite frankly, if the SF cylinders I own don’t last far more than 10 years I will be very surprised! So in conclusion, I don’t give a toss about the 10 yr figure- it’s a recommendation only and I will cross that bridge when I get to it. - if I get to it! 😂🤣
