Hi everyone. A tweet from Kirsty at Morrisons confirms that they are on board with Safefill. Filling is now allowed at all their sites. Show the cylinder to the cashier and away you go. This is great news for those who use gas and want to save money.

Congratulations to Safefill for your dogged determination to bring this product to market against overwhelming odds! The first crack has appeared in the dam! Thanks to all those who wrote to Morrison’s to ask why they couldn’t fill and thanks to Morrison’s for approaching this with an open and enquiring mind to cut through the rumours lies and propaganda surrounding this exceptional product. It is a better world today for the LPG user.

For the record several other companies produce "Direct Fill Cylinders", some with better OPD systems and some lighter.  I understand the decision taken by Morrisons to allow such cylinders to be filled at their outlets is not restricted to just one make.  It is also worth noting that some are more likely to be filled abroad whereas anyone with the make being advertised above may experience difficulties.

I agree DD . There are other user/ owner cylinders but they are systems fitted into vehicles like Gaslow and Gas it. I don’t know of a caravan that has a fitted system. This is great news for caravanners who now have the same advantage, in this country at least, to be able to own and fill their own cylinders. From little acorns, large oak trees grow! Europe next! This news is ground breaking- the first Supermarket to recognise the Safefill Cylinder as safe . I can only imagine now that other outlets who have up to now refused to fill Safefills will see the error of their ways and fall into line. If the cylinder is covered by the ‘Red Guide’ and Morrison’s have accepted them, there really is no more argument to be made.

Merve I am talking about Direct Fill Cylinders not Refillable Cylinders.  I agree GasIt, Alugas and Gaslow do refillables but Gaslow and other companies do Direct Fill Cylinders able to be used in the same way as Safefill, i.e. can be removed from a caravan and taken to pump to be refilled.  You only need to search ebay.  For example:

DD thanks , yes I realise but the argument is still the same . Safefills have been passed by Morrisons as safe- have the others? I don’t think so and until they are they will struggle to make their mark. Safefill has the approval of Morrisons- that tells me an awful lot.

The more Safefill Cylinders there are, the more chance others will follow. Supermarkets keep a pretty keen eye on each other and they will be interested in the Safefill factor.
