Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

Quote  - No fees to sign up to and no transaction fees ??     Just reading the small print re the application T & C's  for a card .

Don't know if there are any other niggly  crafty seemingly  little hidden terms and conditions  in the small print but you are  agreeing   to purchase a minimum of 15 litres of fuel each time or else they say they will impose a £1 fee each time - I realise this is not probably regarded as huge figures but why omit this from the Clubs advert  highlighting  the main  terms and conditions of this offer!!

On the basis that here Esso is a lot more expensive than supermarket fuels I do wonder what the savings will really be.

Posted on 27/01/2019 17:39

Every time Esso card has sent the price we can get petrol/diesel for it has been way above the price that supermarkets or even local Esso stations are selling at. It all seems a con. It is probably based on Southern petrol prices but here up North..... we are always cheaper. This week fuel at Asda pumps is £1.137 but with the Esso card I can get it at £1.176 !!?!?- even the local Esso station is £1.167!!

So  - Suggested addition line to the clubs advert for this special offer :-

Based on a minimum purchase of 15 litres per transaction or you agree  to be charged a minimum £1.00 surcharge per transaction by the card company,

(as per the terms and conditions you have signed and agreed to by accepting this offer)

unless anything has been since changed or amended on this

These are the T&C's regarding min / max amounts as per the original T&C's when I applied for the card.

3.10 Limits may be placed on the Fuel Cards to prevent them from being overdrawn. The maximum volume of litres of Fuel that can drawn in any 24 hour period is 150 litres.

3.11 The use of the Fuel Card by the Cardholder is subject to the Cardholder drawing at least 5 litres of Fuel in each transaction. For each transaction that the Cardholder draws less than 5 litres of Fuel, Pk Fuel Limited is entitled to charge the Cardholder a £1 administration fee.

These have now changed, without any notification to the card holder so I would presume these terms still apply?undecided

Unless someone knows different? I, certainly haven't been informed of these changes.

Having read the T & Cs part on the present application form today  when starting to apply for a card earlier today "Min 15 litre spend and subject to a  minimum possible £1 surcharge" I thought I would think again on this offer as not entirely being giving all the facts anyway. (Sounds as if it has changed?)

We’re also in the north - the first couple of times we used the card for diesel, it was at 1.23 and our Esso stations were much higher, as were the supermarkets. The last two weeks have been 1.25 for Esso but the local supermarkets are 1.23 so reverted back.

Having said that both transaction we have made have been pain free; fill up, confirmation email 2 days later and payment taken 1 day after that.

The common sense approach. You have successfully received a card and the administration appears to be working correctly. Now you can exercise your right to shop for fuel where you see fit. The Club offer gives the benefit of buying branded fuel at a discounted rate. At worse, 1p cheaper than a forecourt price if below the weekly texted rate.

The offer never said it would compete against Supermarket pricing. Supermarket fuel meets EN standards but will not have the same performance additive dose rates. This may not bother some consumers.

Annoyingly, in line with the original discussion, I have yet to receive my card having had application confirmation on 6th December. Would have been handy when I put 50 litres of Super Unleaded in the tank at Oxford Services on the M40 at £1.509 when that weeks text rate was £1.234. So when the card eventually turns up I'll try the minimum fill to check PIN is valid and that the charge goes through correctly and I don't get charged twice. Then it will be handy to have in the wallet to make that purchasing choice.

The old Ts&Cs allowed me to take a fuel can to fill with petrol for the mower at the same time as filling my car with diesel.  It would also have been useful for my motorbike (typically buy 10 litres).

I can live with a higher minimum, but some communications would be appreciated so I know which one applies to me.

According to current legislation those T&Cs should still apply unless you have received notification of the change of the T&Cs and giving you the opportunity to accept them or return the card.
