How to thrive on a non 240v site!

Due to difficulties migrating the original thread, which was massively interesting and popular with members, I am starting another one until the original can be found and  migrated to the Forum.  I apologise to the original OP but I think this is far too important not to be available. Personally, I think, because of the massive moves in technology recently, this subject should have a section by itself. I don't suppose the CC would think about that? So, anything about Solar Panels, LED lighting, Inverters, Safefill even. Anything that assists the caravanners to go off grid in fact - and saves money!!

Why doesnโ€™t anyone who objects to metered electricity, ever have the honesty to say.  I donโ€™t want metered electricity because it would cost me more?

I think the thread is basically about non EHU, a throw away comment by another poster a bit further back saying he only considered EHU sites put a spanner in the works. But I think the idea of the thread is to discuss ways of managing without EHU so discussing metering is irrelevant on this particular thread? smile

We've just had over a week away on a non EHU rally and it was easy to do even with quite a small battery, a 100w soar panel and OH deciding we only needed one bottle of gas. Fridge problems in the hot weather meant we got through the gas more quickly than expected. So we had to trundle a gas bottle to the nearest supplier, lesson learnt! wink

Well said Brue and it is the main reason I have not responded with any counter arguments on the subject of metering or choice for that matter. I made my initial point and considered there was no need to comment further.

2 minutes to reply.  You must be slowing down Tinwheeler.   Go on then enlighten me what are the other, possible / plausible, explanations?

Probably the same as my reasons Boff ...........  and it is not down to trying to get more than my fellow camper for less. Please do not assume that you are the sole protector of virtue nor assign unworthy intentions to others.

And no one has yet to answer how the cost of installations of these meters across all sites will be met? higher pitch fees?

PS I have very little interest at all in this thread but it does provide useful information for those that do,  it is a shame it has been hijacked into EHU and meters?undecided

As I said, discussing metering on this thread is irrelevant, read the title post. smile
