An appeal to Safefill users - and others!

I do not wish this thread to deteriorate into a debate about Safefill Cylinders and the whys and wherefores of various other makes. This is not a promotion of any product.  So please, if you are not a Safefill User, (unless you wish to assist your fellow campers, Motorhomers and caravanners which would be very welcome!) do not comment. This thread is about the effort by the ‘Leisure public’ who use Safefill cylinders to increase the chances of more fill points which can only be a positive move. Morrisons moved to facilitate Safefill after I suggested we all write to them and ask about filling a perfectly legal cylinder. People power does work and it can be a powerful force when applied. Can anyone who uses, or is about to purchase a Safefill, or would like to see fill points open up nearer to them or just simply wants to help their fellow caravanners-  please take 5 minutes to email the following Service Station Groups about filling Safefill cylinders now that the Red Guide has been amended to encompass them and Morrisons have allowed their filling.  You will get the details from the web.  I have only chosen 2 at the moment- more will follow. If we do this as a group, we can change minds as we did with Morrisons. The first is Penny Petroleum which is based in the north of England and has 42 sites I believe. They are on Twitter so that’s another way of contacting them and applying gentle pressure! The second and much larger concern is Euro Garages Group. Please help. Safefill are too small to get out there and visit everyone but they are doing their best I can assure you. Can you please post when you have sent your communication and  any results you receive to the thread Thank you so much . We need those fill points!

The fact is we can fill our safefill bottles in any number of places including Shell and Morrisons in the UK so I'm more than happy, and thats all i'm interested in.

This coming winter whilst out and about I will use gas for all our heating, much more efficient than EHU and hopefully this will help CL users to cut their costs.

A polite reminder to keep this discussion on track. I appreciate that the topic might not be of interest to everyone but it has proven to be helpful to others.

I have also forwarded this discussion to the Technical team at the Club for their reference and potential input. We may need to close this discussion to stop further debate and as the information is available on the OP.

Many thanks.

I suppose that the important thing is that Morrison's (and others) have done a risk assessment and consider the refilling safe?

That document just says: "

In order to avoid further confusion with
forecourt operators and LPG suppliers, it was
agreed, that the ‘Petrol Filling Stations Guide
to Managing the Risk of Fire and Explosion’
(The Red Guide) needed updating"

It then goes on to say:

"The full version of The Red Guide and an
updated User Information Sheet 26 will be
available shortly for reference."

That document was issued 20th July 2017 (well over a year ago) and still nothing has happened.  Neither you nor Safefill can provide those updated documents because they don't exist.  It can't happen until EU and UK law is changed.  Until then the existing laws apply, no if's no but's.  In any event PRA is just an advisory service and carries little weight.

No comment DD. You just keep going and when you fall on your face for everyone to see I won’t expect an apology! You are determined to distrust and distract from the obvious facts. I say again- get on with it. While you’re turning yourself inside out trying to get an argument, we have moved on and are enjoying getting more fill points. Yes, you worry about what ‘facts’ brought about their decision. You asked for proof but still you go on and on going nowhere. It would be a pity if Rowena closed this discussion as I have tried very hard to keep it on track but if she does, your victory will be a very hollow one. You will have denied people the option  of posting their replies to the thread. Can I again politely ask you - please keep quiet if you haven’t got anything positive or relevant to say. I’m sure I speak for all those who have come to the thread with a positive attitude. This thread is about getting more fill points. Not about how Safefill got Morrisons or anywhere else!! You are causing trouble where none exists. You ask questions that are perfectly answerable but you won’t find out because it suits your purpose. I am disappointed that you have taken this attitude but it’s not the first time. Please DD, just wait, have some patience and all will be revealed!!
