PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

This thread is not for discussions. Post ONLY factual information.

To provide a comprehensive list of problems encountered, I would suggest that each post lists only one issue at a time.

Provide details of problem  as concisely as possible.

Operating system, machine used and relevant software. i.e. Macbook/ PC/tablet, Windows XP/ iOS7 etc, Safari/Internet Explorer/Chrome inc version No.

Please do not enter into discussions such as "I've had/not had this problem" as this will detract from the objectivity of the thread. Hopefully this thread may assist the IT department in finding where "all the bodies are buried".

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

OK, the slowness might not have anything to do with the website, if I trace the route (and the time it takes) to the caravan club website, I get this:

It takes approx 5 times as long to trace the route and samba.org is in Germany.

It might be a good idea to ask colt.net if there is something wrong with their dns servers or if they can speed things up.

Hortimech

I will admit that I don't really understand what you have done and what it means but you seem to be pointing in the same direction as my comments re servers. Many of us are now on high speed broadband and this should mean that access to most websites should almost be instantaneous, OK there will be the odd glitch along the way but this forum is for most of the day so slow it can't be down to our own connections all of the time?

traceroute is a program that does what it says, it traces the route between your PC and in this case www.caravanclub.co.uk, by preceding it with the program 'time', you get how long it takes to complete. In this case 25 seconds (and presumably, it takes this long every time), where as the second example takes 5 seconds and it is going to Germany!

The problem seems to be that the search gets bogged down in 'colt.net' somewhere.

That looks like the data which appears if you right click on source.

brue.   Agree its much easier to read when right click on original post & open in new tab [using laptop]  Seems to be a mix of various posts.

Sometimes I right click by mistake and get all this stuff. It just tracks through the whole source information/data from origin to end.

The duplicate thread issue seems to be worse than ever.

It's now so much hassle to try to post at times, that I sometimes don't bother.

Rowena, for goodness sake convince the powers that be to bin this software and then create a new forum with off the shelf software which will work so much better - guaranteed.

I can still read the Hidden section, you know.

I find myself not posting and occasionally reading here days. Just too hard 😢. I have now sussed posting photos so rather frustrating!

Not to mention old threads from years ago popping up without replies. Helpful folk take time and effort to reply and it can be several posts before someone picks it up 😤

This being a classic started 5 years ago

But have you noticed, apart from the ones who spot these are old threads  there are always people who seem to want to discuss anything that appears. wink

Apart from that it is hard to fathom out what has gone wrong on the website as the searches and submissions right across the board, not just the forum area, are so poor and unpredictable.
