An open letter to the Community Manager - reviews

Dear Rowena,

I think the time has come to press you on the issue of comments made on reviews. I know you are very busy but the situation is becoming rather discordant and inconsistent.

You have posted some information concerning the content of reviews recently but I can see nothing from you regarding the posting of comments. David Klyne, in the thread titled Reviews, posted some words on the subject on 04.08.19 and my post (pictured below) seeking further information was also reported to you in an effort to establish clarification. Unfortunately, I’ve not seen a response from any source.

Yesterday (10.08.19), a new review appeared which was clearly in breach of the Community Guidelines and several of us commented explaining how the Guidelines answered the poster's question. Seemingly legitimate responses were subsequently Deleted User fairly quickly yet the review remained until early afternoon today when it was quite rightly removed. Can you imagine the confusion this caused?

I have no intention of querying moderation here but, obviously, different people have different views on what is acceptable and what is not and it is that very difference and lack of guidance relating to comments which is causing a less than standardised approach.

Therefore, may I please ask for a definitive clarification of what is, or is not, permitted in comments on reviews to be included in the Guidelines? We, as posters, need to know what is acceptable to yourself and the moderators so that we can all sing from the same song sheet.

Regards.

TW

I’m not quite sure what DD is asking for? Are you asking JK if the Club has a complaints procedure for staff who might have a grievance? Or are you asking if the Club offers members a written complaints procedure. They certainly do this, it’s at the bottom of this page under Useful Links, Contact Us, as JVB points out.

I popped in to Sainsbury's tonight to do some shopping and checked on the staff welfare , they all seemed happy 😊,

Amazingly the search at the top of the page works for complaints procedure. It is there at the top of the list. It's about the only thing it does work for.

I can't say I've noticed if wardens have name tags and would therefore be unable to name them. "I found one warden offensive and officious" would perhaps be a better way of wording it as the name of the individual means little to the casual reader anyway. If a phrase such as that above is used in a review, formal complaint procedures can ensure that the matter is dealt with appropriately.

that is still against the rules, and not permitted, the warden though unnamed is linked to the site being reviewed, it can only be one of a small number of people (a minimum of two) and all will be associated with the same remark.  Totally unfair. They have no reply and it may not be true.

Also that wording in a review will not lead to a formal complaint (and rightly so), you would have to write in to begin that process.

MrC, there isn’t much fairness nor justice around from folk I’m afraid. I’m not a fan of the ‘hang em high’ mentality☹️

The trouble is we now live in a PC world where no one can say anything against someone in case they get upset

years ago if you called someone an "idiot " ,they just shrugged it off , but now !, well ...............

Indeed I have found some replies on this thread to be very saddening.
