Regarding the weather at this time of year. Think back 80 years to the planning for D Day. If I recall correctly it was postponed several time due to bad weather so perhaps not a lot has changed?

Rufs your shrub is a Deutzia double pink and bees do like it.

A dry warmish but a lot of cloud about here but washing is drying and managed to get some more bits of gardening done and a bit more this afternoon.

Thank you, we have lived here 14 years and never known the name, we inherited it when we moved in, previous occupant was an old lady who specialised in growing shrubs.

We have been watching all the cycling from around Europe, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, parts of France, all over Italy via Giro. Weather seems very mixed over there as well, depending of course how far South you are. Some parts of Italy in last three weeks were a lot colder than here, and a lot wetter as well. Having said that, according to Look North weather a few days ago, this has been the warmest May for a long time. I would beg to differ, it’s  certainly not warm here in South Yorks, but it’s the grey skies that are so depressing. Not a lot of rain really, but the sun just isn5 getting through. When it does, it’s glorious. Supposed to get up to 20/21c this weekend🤞

Yes, I heard that as well, ttda - and I couldn't believe it either - certainly hasn't been on the east coast.

Sun's just come out and wind dropped a bit - so perhaps we are going to get that promised warm spell this weekendsmile

The weather here in East Anglia certainly hasn't heard about summer. It is very cold, grey, windy and cold. Trying very hard not to put the heating on. The good news is that OH has his car back at long last. The clutch gave out when driving home from the airport after our stay in N Ireland at Easter. A whole lot of reasons for the long delay - a garage able to do the repair and when we found a clutch specialist he had a 3 week waiting list and then there was a delay getting the spare parts. Also we had difficulty finding a rescue truck willing to fetch the car from our drive where Green Flag brought it after they rescued us. I wouldnt have thought a Mitsubishi Outlander wasn't that huge but apparently it seems to be! Anyway all is done now 😊.

Good news that your OH's BP is coming down WN. I hope it continues. It must be a relief.

Well, today we have nearly wall to wall sunshine around Stirling area, not roasting hot but very pleasant. It has turned a bit cloudy now , and further East It was quite dark an hour or so ago.  We had a good walk along the old railway line from Doune this morning and visited Dunblane Cathedral as well as the Leighton Library, the oldest purpose-built private library in Scotland, built in 1687, and which has just reopened after a huge restoration process. Both are certainly worth a visit.

Photos to follow when I get round to resizing them to fit the stupid requirements of this forum.

It’s a cultivar of Deutzia Gracilis, a member of the Hydrangea family, Rufs. Not a native to the UK but a good garden plant for the pollinators.

Following an energetic day climbing the four Waterfalls route the previous day it was a circular and relatively flat walk along the River Usk and the Monmouthshire Canal near Brecon. What stunning scenery in the sunshine around this area and the aqueduct is particularly interesting. Again, I’d well recommend this tour to others. Starting the homeward journey tomorrow after a brief overnight stay near Chester.

Hope the weather has improved for you Millie.  You picked an opportune time to visit Wales Micky. The weather has mostly behaved itself whilst you are here. Don't fancy staying a while longer by any chance do you?

Took advantage of the good weather this morning to have a full mornings walk. Quite long for me nowadays but enjoyed it and don't feel any ill affects.

We're having a night away later in the week mainly to see how MiL copes. She says she wants to try and with various caveats we've agreed. She knows what will happen if she is silly. Not sure OH will worry any less by getting away but it will be close by and friends have indicate they'll pop in to see if she needs anything. First time this year we will have been away. Airbnb not caravan though.

Well it's been another grey cool breezy day here.

Went to the Cambridgeshire Young farmers show. Very grateful it was dry, that's the 2nd day this week! Everyone  wrapped up in coats. Going out avoided cleaning up after our building work. Place needs a spring clean 😱😱🫣 lots of fine dust etc..... Just need a dull day. Plenty of those recently but no point in cleaning until it was finished.....

Pleased the work is done, disappointed that cloakroom work was rushed. Fitter worked a long day 0800-1830 no apprentice, and was expected to fit all the units and plumbing in toilet and whb. Replacing radiator, last of the grouting etc....... He'd been allocated a fresh job starting Thursday. Someone came Thursday to finish, but there's still outstanding items - back Monday. Took him 3 hours to get our heating back on. Hot water had been fine once boiler put back on. I assumed heating would need rads put back on before working. No! Much discussion about was it serviced regularly and when last, had we done anything? Turned out someone, no one owned up, had turned off filters..... sad ending to a working relationship.

Its been that cool that I dug out the fan heater we had as back up in our motorhome. Good job I'd not cleared it out. So we confined ourselves to the lounge whilst they were constantly in and out with the front door open.

We don't turn our heating off, up or down on the thermostat if necessary. Since it went back on Thursday its been firing up morning and evening.....

Good to read you're going to try a night away wherenext. You can only try. I truly admire your mother in law.

Sadly OH oral op on Tuesday is cancelled, text to confirm date and time of op and letter received on Friday cancelling.

Booked tickets for Rhthym of the Dance locally in July and tickets for a play about Farm Hall, house of spies in Godmanchester in WW2 . Local history group had a talk on it earlier this month, wow! So much still coming out about those there. It was where those going  to be dropped out into Europe spent their days preparing for their departure.

Good to read of others news and doings, but not when they say how wonderful the weather has been.

Must go and do a little something productive.

I’ve spent the whole day giving our MH a real good sort out inside. Every cupboard emptied, cleaned and only essentials put back in. We have decided to take out one of the Gatcombe tables, as we only ever use the small one, this has saved around 5 kilos. Bedding is all freshly laundered, covers on seats the same. OH has been busy on externals, he’s cleaned up the wheels, re sprayed them as well as checking all brakes. Just a bit more cleaning inside, and a good wash all over, and she’s ready to roll next week. Two, possibly three nights at a Club Site for us, for a steam train event. There’s a good possibility we might grab a full week as well later in Summer, and I might do a bit of commuting to meet up with OH as he tours around. We have decided on Northumberland area, as station links are very good. It’s also where we had our honeymoon 40 years ago this Summer. Just checking out some of the sites we found a few years ago, two very special ones are still on the go, and reasonably priced (Brilliantly priced compared with Club Sites🤣)

WN, great if you can have even a day away. Make the most of it. Small gains👏 Been a decent day here, dry, some sunshine, a bit warmer.
