These days, and the posts as well,  are a horrid mixture of good news and appalling news or is it that I'm too busy watching the news, reading papers as well as posts on here ??

Think I shall go to bed and read a couple of chapters of " Thomas Covenant "  Now that could make the happiest Smiley Face Emoji look glum !!

Great bit of news for you and all the family millie, very pleased for you, and him of course.

Thank you nellie. He has applied for anything and everything the last 6 months and the only response he had was from Lidl with 'thanks but no thanks'. So depressing.

Another miserable, dull, cold and damp day.  No more snow, it has even melted a bit, but some rain.  Dentist for me today, check on previous extractions, plus a look at 2 fillings that I lost over Christmas.   ☹️

Trip to Guide Hall yesterday found one boiler not working, unfortunately the combi which provides the hot water, but no frozen pipes.   Have contacted our boiler man, but meantime, reading of the instructions has revealed there is an over temperature reset button somewhere, so will go in past today to see if I can find it and reset things.

We were supposed to be getting delivery of our new towel warmer this coming Monday, came home after being out for a couple of hours yesterday to find it propped up on the doorstep, in full  view of the street.   Just as well there are very few people passing here!

Wrestled it into the porch, which we only lock at night,  so they did not try that door, and will unpack and test today.

Delivery people just knock and leave anything we've ordered at the moment. I suppose we live in a reasonably safe area but they try to avoid contact due to Covid.

Spring like weather here, misty sunshine.

A lot of apple tree pruning going on. I don't like pruning fruit trees  but the cider trees have got a bit out of hand. Local man doing it for us, we have to book him well in advance. The wood will be useful and he's going to chip the twiggy branches which we'll use to build up worn bits on the right of way, nothing wasted.

No problem with that......if we are in!

Ordered via Amazon but sold and dispatched by a separate company, who said it would come on Monday, so we thought it was safe to go out.

No idea who was delivering

Thats unusual? as we have always had an email to track any parcels from everyone so far ,and this week so far we have had an Iceland home del .a camping shop from Scotland )Amazon order)(via DPD) and John Lewis tommorow (via Hermes) is also a pet store tomorrow (via Yodel) and Now tv(sky) via Royal Mail) we have been advised of all, via all  the companies tracking systems

It seems hit and miss at present JVB, we do usually get tracking or text updates, or a phone call.  However, in the last 10 days we have had a tile delivery , on the designated day but without the promised 1 hour ahead phone call, a shower tray delivery which turned up on the correct day but no tracking available, and now this towel rad turning up 4 days early out of the blue.

If we know there is something coming, we try to be here, but if not possible we either leave a note in the delivery instructions, or leave half the wooden porch door ajar to suggest they should leave whatever in there out of sight, which usually works.

We had an unexpected early delivery today, we were in but leave a note if we're going out. We're not getting advanced notices for all deliveries, I think the firms doing deliveries are very busy at the moment, some things have arrived via a car.

Had a phone call this morning cancelling our rearranged Dental appointment in March for one in July! Our original one was for next Tuesday. However the Dentists young daughter needs regular treatment at hospital and she genuinely doesn't know the dates too far in advance. What can one say? Anyway the kindly receptionist juggled a few things around and we'll now make 2 journeys, one at the end of February the other 2 weeks later to the Hygienist.

We had a delivery from Amazon. Mrs WN always rejects the offer of next day delivery which costs more and 9/10 we get the parcel the next day anyway. Book ordered for MiL 5pm yesterday, arrived 12.00 today.

Cold day with ice underfoot this morning. Went for an afternoon stroll instead.

Welsh First Minister now written into law the changes for supermarkets.

Heard that 3 people living near us now had the vaccine. Met one couple just returning in their car. They had a phone call at 8.30. Can you get down here for 9.30? Yes we can. Great, we'll do both of you.

Their sister had it 2 weeks ago but unfortunately she has Dementia and she couldn't remember having it. What a horrible disease this Dementia is.
