My Vaccine if you please  innocent ( Snooty Sniffle  Harrumph,  jab indeed yell )  was given at Crewe Green Road Crewe, what was originally The Teacher Training College, later the Manchester Metropolitan University now its called Buckingham Apollo Campus  --  all the same place in the library !!  Have to congratulate them for their efficiency despite getting stuck in the outside queue for about four minutes in the rain.  { Should YOU need to go there ~~ TAKE A BROLLY  sealedsmile  }

Pulling off the round a bout there were several folks guiding me to car park, then at the appropriate time, moving me close to the Vax Centre !! All easy peasy, BUT I did notice that The Eagle Bridge multiple surgery on Dunwoody way, by Morrisons in Crewe, now has the signs up for " Vaccine Centre "  so it, like the virus itself, does seem to be spreading. Not always the most convenient 'cos a neighbour has to take his very elderly father from his home in Haslington six or so miles each way to the Centre in Alsager ~~ Probably due to the siting of his own doctors surgery.

It's snowed all day up here in the high Pennines from about 7 o'clock this morning.

We had a short walk around the golf course before lunch and then hunkered down. Came home looking like a couple of snowmen, well snowman and snow woman.  I think we'll break out a bottle of single malt this evening and start the weekend early.☃️🥃

I shall have a look for a copy on kindle as mine is hardly readable now.

Goodness nellie what a drama. It must have been very worrying. Please keep us posted.

It has now been reported, in the local rag, that the 82yr old, disabled lady who lived there died in what has been described as a house fire. She lived alone, her husband having died quite a few years ago, and had care workers visit her each day. The weather has been very set and cold today so no one has been out and about, so facts from the grapevine are scarce at the moment. The police are appealing for witnesses, especially a chap who they believed helped but then disappeared.

Rained for most of the day here, with the odd flake of snow thrown in. The moors about 6 mls away are now white, and I guess the Lakeland hills are well covered. Attended our friends and neighbour's funeral this afternoon, mainly just family and a few from the street who knew him well.

Rain finally stopped around 3:00 so managed one dry walk and it was  fine when we went to do our shopping. Clear skies now and close to freezing so the pavements could be dicey tomorrow morning.

What a crying shame for the lady Nellie.

It's always a worry when the elderly are on their own.

Posted on 14/01/2021 20:22

It certainly is. Our next door neighbour is an elderly lady who we haven't seen for over 12 months. She has a carer who come about 4 times a day, and a daughter who lives near, but only pops in for a few minutes a couple of times a week. If we lived ajoined to her we would be worried that something similar to what happened yesterday could occur there.

I remember many years ago my Gran wouldn't budge from her OAP flat despite protestations from her family that she would be safer in a home. It took her friend who lived directly opposite her to die in her flat and not be found for 24 hours to persuade her to make the move.

Gran was lucky at first because her son worked in English Electric (remember them) almost opposite where she lived and called in every day when working for lunch but when he retired he became worried about something happening to her. Gran didn't have a phone.

Nellie: poor lady. So vulnerable being disabled and living on her own. I do hope she didnt suffer although she was probably very frightened.

It has rained here all day apart from 2 hours of heavy snow early afternoon just as our Morrisons delivery arrived. I felt so sorry for the delivery driver. Snow and rain now stopped thankfully

We watched the Churches Conservation Trust weekly online talk this afternoon. Excellent and really enjoyable.

We heard the best news we have had for a long time this afternoon. Our grand-daughter's fiance has finally got a job! He will be working in customer services at Royal Sun Alliance.  He was made redundant last July and has applied for over 100 jobs since. We are so relieved for them. With a young child and a mortgage to pay life has not been easy for them.
