A day at CAB today.

While there, I got a call on my mobile from one of those PPI recovery firms saying that he was going to send me a form to sign for them to recover some PPI that they believed I had bought.

I explained to him that

a) I have never bought any PPI

b) I am an Advisor at CItizens Advice and our standard advice to clients would be to always sort out recovery of PPI yourself, because it is incredibly easy to do, and

c) We also advise never to use an agency like the one that this chap represented, because it meant paying out a big part of the refund to them for nothing.

Errrrrr, I'll take you off our contact list, he said.

I think that would be for the best, said I.

Ian, I had something in a similar vein happen today.

I received a call from a very polite gentleman asking for our meter reading for energy supply. I told him that I was rather puzzled by his request as I had only just submitted them by email about 1 week ago and asked him to read my account details to find the readings. He confessed that he wasn't from my energy supply company, per se, but sub contracted by them to obtain the readings as they were very busy. When I asked him for the details of his company so I could verify this before giving him any of my details he suddenly said that as I had already supplied the details to them there was no need to take it further. Needless to say my energy supplier knows nought of this company and the telephone number was not traceable.

You always have to be on your guard these days, don't you?

Ooooh......that's one we have not had yet!  We tend to mention TPS and then they generally just hang up.

Not feeling too great, have had a heavy cold and persistent cough since Monday, OH is threatening that if I  give it to her, Christmas will be cancelled!

She always gets bad colds, but I usually shake them off, this is the worst I have had in many years......more years than I can remember.

If OH catches it I will never hear the end of it!

Caught the bus from just outside the site's drive into Shrewsbury. Pleasant walk along the river, through the Quarry and The Dingle, up into town and than down to the Abbey. Back along the river and up past the Castle, before catching the bus back to the site. Weather was a bit cloudy and we had a bit of rain, but brightened up later in the afternoon.
