Sell, re van weights, ours is not much heavier than your so hopefully we'll attain similar fuel consumption as yourself.

Write your comments here...Guess it will be a little bit less as you have gone for the auto.

We will find out in due course. How much milage did you put in before towing for the first time with the D4?

Write your comments here...Was approx 800 miles, no reason for this it was just the first opportunity we got due to work, are you going for the volvo fitted towbar or are you sorting your self with a independant fitter ? i went for the Volvo detachable.

Same here. We are taking the benefit of the 10% discount offered for being a CC member., did you?

Write your comments here...No didnt realise they had a offer, oh well that £75 lost

I think Nellie was referring to the 10% available on Volvo cars, SELL.

As I mentioned earlier, Volvo went through a spell of offering huge discounts on their cars and we got over 20% with little or no effort......but don't know what's available now.

On the towbar, I would certainly have them fit it. Ours does things like turn off the reversing lights and sensors when the caravan is connected. Also turns off the car fog lights (to avoid dazzle) and turns on the caravan fog lights and dims the car rear lights for the same reason. Obviously the fridge also needs to work. There is a secondary set of indicator lights on the dash for the caravan indicators. Cars are complicated these days and I'm not sure that all towbar fitters can sort out all these things.

I'm with you on using the manufacturer's/dealer's parts and knowledge for towbars and electrics, Ian. It might cost a bit more but they will understand the complicated electronics of the modern car and use purpose designed parts and wiring. It's usually not otherwise possible to break into circuits and wire extra bits in without causing problems these days - unlike the old days.

A lot more in my experience Sad but i agree its worth paying.

Good  Day  Everybody  Smile.  Hope  you  all  behaved  after  I  went  to  bed  last  night  ! L O L

Up  with  the  larks  today,  fed  the  birds ,  shopped  for  a  little  food  then  went  for  a  sit down  in  Clarks !  Sadly  only  the  shoes  on  the  designated  rack  were  actually  on  sale,  but  my  needs  were  still  there  so  the  "Card"  got  a  hammering.  Scampered  up  to  Bridgmere  Garden  Centre  ( A part  of  Wyevale  now )  to  look  for  "Nauticalia"  a  {theoretically}  sailing  based  trader,  for  a  couple  of  silly  things  before  this  branch  outlet  closes.  Got  a  couple  of  Royal  Scot  Mugs  and  a  nice   tea  caddy  to  match,  slowly  kitting  out  the  M/H  with  its  very  own  bits  and  bobs  so,  unlike  some  on  here  I  should  not  require  a  storage  facility  to  unload  it  at  change-over  time  HappyWink.

Now  its  time  to  get  stuck  into  the  problems  with  my  Kindle  --  it  only  accepts  new  books  as  "Pending"  so  they  are  stuck  up  in  cloud  or  cloud  cuckoo  land  at  the  moment.  Technology  for  a  simple,  easy  life  ?? Pah,  Don't  you  Believe  it   grrrrrr  !

C U later,  bieee

Brian

P.S.  The  bird  feeders  are  all  empty  again,  I  think  the  tweets  are  using  Henry  vacuum  cleaners  or  some  such  Frown!!

Well  I'd  only  spend  it  on  shoes

B

It's my lucky day - my number has come in in the village 200 Club draw. Sadly, it's only £10 - but it will buy half a bottle of Gin.

Busy morning doing hand washing, giving the van a good vacuum out and everything (hard surface) inside washed down with disinfectant, hoping to discourage the beasties. Then a spot of lunch sat in the lovely warm sun. Later a ride out on the trike to get some shopping and give it a good run as its been a week since we used it, due to the awful weather. Its much warmer here than it was in Limoges yet we are 170 ish miles further North. We still get the occasional shower and rumbles of thunder but thankfully they are infrequant.

The site isn't busy at all, it usually has quite a few Dutch and German vans on it but hardly any just now. There was a group of English vans arrived last night at 8pm from Cherbourg, all looking a bit tired, speaking to them today they had been up since 5am, quite day for them today then they have al lsorts planned.

PS OH did a few jobs tooWink
