Drone on and on and on!!

we have just stayed at Knaresborough caravan site and written a review.  We noticed a drone taking off from outside reception and then flew all over the site before landing back in car park.  With the increase in drone sales it maybe worth a mention that flying so close to the public is illegal and the caravan club should not encourage this in any way.

The injury to people or property? Would the caravan club pay for my damage if they allowed the person to film from above???

From the CAA.

The Civil Aviation Authority requires that consumer drones (classed as those that weigh under 20kg) must be flown no higher than 120 metres, and kept at least 50 metres away from people and private property, and 150 metres from “crowds and built up areas.”

You’re also required to keep your drone in your line of sight at all times, and be aware of designated ‘no fly zones’, which most notably include airports and prisons.

If the drone was being flown within those parameters it was legal.  As the 50 metre rule applies to vertical distance as well as any other direction and a CC Ltd site cannot reasonably be classed as “crowds and built up areas" where is the illegality there?

Site Drones being flown by the site staff could help them identify and film those who refuse to abide by the CMC rules and also monitor activity on site,  without having to leave the comfort of the site office. laughing

Perhaps the CC need some more signs.😉

Although Steve's post may have been made a little 'tongue in cheek, it is unlikely that the CAMC would have any jurisdiction on what flies above their sites.  However, if the person controlling the device were within the boundary of the site then they would have the right to tell that person to stop.  Sadly, it may have very little effect, because if they moved a couple of yards outside the boundary of the site, they would be within their rights, once more.
