What have they done?

Well, I waited until it went live. Where do l start ? UTTER PANTS best describes my experience.  The queuing system failed to direct me where I wanted to go, I ran out of battery trying to search CLs and to cap it my wife's smart phone "is not compatible with the CAMC app ". sealed

Have the club decided they have too many members and want to cull some, as I certainly will not be rejoining when my membership comes up for renewal unless they sort something out with their booking system or better still revert to the old system

Hammer

As Peedee says there will be no going back from the new system. Hopefully its useability  will be improved but no going back. After all this has been discussed for the last 2/3 years.

Now a serious question for you. If you decide to abandon your Club membership what do you intend to do instead? If it's to move towards more commercial sites do you use such sites at present as a mix with Club sites? I ask because with the odd exception I can't see how you would be better off not using CLub sites as you do now?

DK, There are lots of sites where one can phone on the previous day and ask if there will be vacancies for the following afternoon. And if  they say Yes, then turn up, thank them and book in - without any payment in advance at all.

There certainly are, we were on one last night, 2 miles from a CAMC site. No deposit, charming owner, clean facilities, pay once you are sorted attitude. Mix of grass and h/s pitches, open all year and half the price of CAMC.

Good to hear from you Tammy. I myself have toured 20 countries without phoning more than a day ahead - ten of them were with a caravan and ten without. The passion that some fellow members have for making reservations a year in advance is beyond my understanding. Good wishes to you. Happy travels.

Interesting to hear members experiences.  It took me back a few years ago when the other club updated their booking system.  Exactly the same thing happened with them, it was an abysmal cock up and consequently I didn't renew my membership with them.

So when I heard of the rumour of the CAMC launching a new booking system I made all my bookings before it was introduced and have everything booked until next June and it hasn't cost me a penny in deposits. I would have booked more dates after this but the calendars were stopped at June, I guess to stop people booking too far ahead?

I have had to amend one booking but couldn't change it online.  There is a glitch whereby the height of the motorhome is required when booking but there is not the option to add it.  So ended up speaking to HO who amended the details and now all is good and the amendment is complete.

So my experiences so far have been a lot better than when the others made the change.

Ina, that post is so unlike you.

Do you mean to suggest people join CAMC without bothering to read about the workings of the organisation they join? The club's governance rules are on the website for everyone to read and it’s not necessary to use the forum to know about governance.

Only just checked in again, being "over there" (or rather "here" as that's where I am now) does get in the way of looking in on CT laughing

No idea why you think that post was so unlike me; I think you misunderstood what I was getting at (perhaps being Dutch impedes the use of my English undecided )

All I said was that new posters on this thread wouldn't have read what you posted before in relation to the "roolz" of CAMC.  Just to be clear, this is what you posted and what I responded to:

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve explained why, in line with its governance, the club has no need to consult members before making changes.🤷🏻‍♂️

I made no reference at all to the fact of whether or not new members bother to read any rules and regs, merely the fact that new posters wouldn't have read any of your posts prior to this thread.

Hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

Not really bothered wether you understand or not ET. Many members including ourselves like to book well in advance, that is all that matters. For that we need a reliable functioning booking system.

Why not use the same date of birth for everyone - 1/1/11

You would still have to scroll back 132 months and book them in as a child as it validates the dob being over 18 for an adult
