Pre-arrival texts

I’ve heard of a few people who have received texts just before their booking start dates reminding them of the 1300 arrival time. I’m told the wording makes it clear they will be turned away if they arrive early. This is in addition to the usual booking reminder emails.

I’m wondering if CAMC is taking steps to curb early arrivals. Has anyone here received a text?

You need to see this link  It explains the reasons as allowing time for people to leave before new arrivals appear. It also suggests it allows time for your pitch to be valetedwink

Interesting to read JK's reply where he said the Club are insisting site staff turn people away, I don't know whether there is any leeway in that decision. Given this is meant to be a members club that seems a draconian measure if it applies to people turning up say 10 minutes early. As to whether the message is getting out to members that is a different matter. To find the link I posted you have to scroll down the site page you are interested in to see the link. I expect those well versed in booking sites will do just that and ignore any other information on that page. JVB highlights a couple of other things saying that it has been in the magazine a couple of times. Given the number of people who say they don't read the magazine I am not surprised it's been missed. The decision to text people is I think a good one but it might depend when that text is sent and whether you are a habitual checker of your phone, some people aren't. I can just see someones face when they turn up half an hour early only to the told by site staff that you have a text on your phone! Unless it's changed since I last got one I think they need to redesign the confirmation booking email. There is a lot of guff most of it isn't  needn't  there, if they did that they could have a very clear message about arrival times. I appreciate that early arrivals were probably a problem when we had 12 noon arrivals but the Club have to be better at the way they communicate these changes. They have an open resource here on CT, why not use it?

Having just read the latest review for Trewethett Farm you can see what happens when communications have failed.

We have recently had phone calls from club sites the day before arriving to say the arrival time is 1 one call from Yellowcraig  North Berwick and the other from Hillhead in Brixham. At Hillhead they were turning away arrivals before 1 and getting them to go down towards the ferry and turn at the bus stop at the bottom. We did arrive last year at Blackpool at 12.54 and the gate was closed so we had to go back out and down to Morrison’s to turn and go back up when we then arrived at 1.03 the gate was open

Mmm, I saw that. They seem to have booked when arrival time was 1200.

Why on earth the club hasn’t sent membership emails to all regarding the change, I don’t know.

Although I sympathise with the problem it is entirely up to the club to communicate properly with all the membership, making sure everyone receives the update, emails should be of the "acknowledge on receipt" variety. Turning arrivals into a battle is rotten customer service and not good for staff or visitor morale. I know some staff might feel ok about getting "tough" but some won't and that's not what holidays are about for any of us.

You’re not unique, JV. Many of us have made the same suggestion but it falls on stony  ground.

But then I did at least get a reply albeit that it was not a route they seem to be followingundecided

But then who are members to be in advance of anything that the club realise at a later stage it was a good suggestionsurprised

I think an email to the club site director would be my line of contact especially with the site staff giving a threat of recinding membership

I can certainly understand the member in the review being annoyed. I just checked through our up and coming booking confirmations and several have estimated arrival 12 / 14:00 and are now 13:00. If I didn’t use CT and had not received any later communication and I turned up at 12 noon, I wouldn’t expect to be told go away and come back later.

The earliest arrival time at most campsites is now 1pm.
This is to allow our site teams to get your pitch ready and avoid congestion for members leaving their pitch.

So what has changed since the 12 o clock arrival time. Or do they want to mow the grass and rake the gravel. As ED said up thread it was covid but covid is no longer the threat it was.
