Pre-arrival texts

I’ve heard of a few people who have received texts just before their booking start dates reminding them of the 1300 arrival time. I’m told the wording makes it clear they will be turned away if they arrive early. This is in addition to the usual booking reminder emails.

I’m wondering if CAMC is taking steps to curb early arrivals. Has anyone here received a text?

As a point of fact only, I've been a member for coming up to 23 years next month and it was always 12:00 till this year and never known outfits arriving (officially) during the morning.

Was it 12 o clock at Coniston Park Copice. God job I could never get anywhere for 12:00 or I might have got in trouble. But there again I might have not judging by the times some were allowed to arrive. Officially or not.

Agree with the decision to turn early arrivals back. Living near the club’s site at Rowntree Park, York witness outfits arriving very early and parking up on the nearby public roads. These are not people who have misjudged their journey times. (A bit like the parking outside schools with parents getting there early so they can bag the parking place next to the school entrance.)

Here’s a useful link for anyone who hasn’t yet found it

https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/uk-holidays/useful-information/before-you-travel/

It lists up to date information about the Sites where something might affect people’s journey, arrival, and actual stay. Includes nearby events, maintenance work, partial closures, and at the very top of the page, the new 1pm earliest arrival time for all sites. This link is on every Site web page I think, so those using the website to book, can check for up to date information.

Hopefully, a glance at this page might pre empt a few of the issues, and avoid upset.

Well I've stayed at quite a few commercial sites and they manage. 🤷‍♂️

Just had 2 nights at Knaresborough, at the cost of £92.40 (standard pitch). At these prices someone should be available to check you in when you roll up.

I honestly can't believe people think it's a good thing. It's not.

Further more, at no point did they contact us to say the club house was closed, no discount, no apology, just a note on the toilet wall. Caravan club never give a penny back. COVID was is more evidence of that. Camping club extended the membership by 3 months and banged in free WiFi.

I've only been a member for 11 years, but in that time it's got more and more regimented and money grabbing.

Anyway, I'll just use the CLs more and say no more.

Cheers

I booked a few weeks ago for Knaresborough and I received an e-mail with information about the site, including information which told me that at present, the bar/bistro was only available for take aways meals.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. The earliest arrival time at most campsites is now 1pm. This is to allow our site teams to get your pitch ready and avoid congestion for members leaving their pitch. Please make sure you factor into your journey a location where you can park and rest if you think you may arrive at the campsite prior to 1pm. For the most up to date arrival times, please check the individual campsite webpage and the before you travel information here.

We are sending texts to members before they travel to advise them of the 1pm arrival time to avoid disappointment when arriving early and we have also used other channels to communicate this including in the Club magazine.

As we have received numerous reports on this discussion where the conversations have contravened our Community Guidelines, I am closing this discussion but thank you everyone for your feedback.
