Pre-arrival texts

I’ve heard of a few people who have received texts just before their booking start dates reminding them of the 1300 arrival time. I’m told the wording makes it clear they will be turned away if they arrive early. This is in addition to the usual booking reminder emails.

I’m wondering if CAMC is taking steps to curb early arrivals. Has anyone here received a text?

I can't see that at all, it's a bit like saying people speed because there is a set limit.

The club doesn't drive their outfit, the club doesn't plan their routes and/or timings, people do and they are the only ones responsible for arriving early.

It's all ok when retired, and you have all the time in the world, but we find the 1pm thing a royal pain in the rear. Thats one of my days off wasted hanging around to get access to the empty pitches. Yes some sites have bad access and I can see the reasoning there but the ones that don't, why not let folks get the empty pitches. I was at coniston a few months back and it's 10am access there and it was really good. Why anyone thinks 1pm is good baffles me.

As for little black books, and 3 strikes and your out.... I think enough people are leaving as it is with the crazy prices let alone regimentation.

Well even Coniston is going to be 1pm soon it's been said upthread.

Are enough people leaving? Where's that been said? In fact going by the posts and threads on CT the opposite appears to be the case.

As said it's been decided but just think what happens if there are no empty pitches?

I though all mobile phones took their time from the internet or signal provider anyway? I can't remember the last time I had to set the time and date on my mobile?

Quibbling about five or ten minutes seems an odd way to start a holiday. I'm sure if I checked between my watch, my husband's watch, the time on our dash and the time on my mobile phone, there would easily be a five minute discrepancy between them.

Goodness me, I couldn't cope with a situation like that. All my clocks and watches have to show the correct time. That's the only way I could live. The notion that a condition of clocks all at variance might subsist by anything more than a few seconds is anathema to me.

I suppose it is the same mild form of OCD, very mild I might add, that allows me to state that I have once arrived five minutes early at a site - full of apologies. I can't recall now why this happened, or where it was, but I remember there was no queue and I remember the case because it was my only experience of arriving early in 35 years of motorhoming.

I realise I open myself to the accusation of being holier than thou, but it is not difficult to  avoid arriving early. I usually arrive within 15 to 60 minutes of the set arrival time - so I am not the idler type who is always late either; indeed far from it.

If you time pieces are at variance, rely on your smart phone. That should be spot on.

We arrived at our current site at 13:10 and there was one van ahead of us. We find short queues (3 / 4 ) vans are the norm, even close to the arrival time, except on the very popular sites and perhaps on a Friday.

One thing I find a little strange is the sign that is present in the facilities and other places on site. It states that the earliest arrival is 13:00 and that if you arrive before this you may be sent away until the correct time. Note the use of the word may. Surely if they are trying to stamp it out the use of will would be more appropriate.

Yes put me down for a +1 about watches, it drives me mad when the two oven clocks are out by a minute.

And yes fully agree with the rest of your post.

My phone, watches, tablets et al do just that MrC👍🏻. In fact I have one that says-‘atomic time’, I’m hoping it’s a benign epithet🤣🤣
