Pre-arrival texts

I’ve heard of a few people who have received texts just before their booking start dates reminding them of the 1300 arrival time. I’m told the wording makes it clear they will be turned away if they arrive early. This is in addition to the usual booking reminder emails.

I’m wondering if CAMC is taking steps to curb early arrivals. Has anyone here received a text?

As it was me who pointed to the review, it wasn't a trial by social media but raised a few questions about the way CAMC is dealing with things. I've just checked "before you travel" and the details dont mention that people will be turned away if they arrive before 1pm. Good communications are vital and I'm sorry if anyone feels the need to to defend or dismiss the actual review (which was still visble a few minutes ago with a similar but less abusive one beneath.) The review, whatever any of us think about it, pointed up some problems in general and both reviews point to the fact that being turned away rather than being left to wait (if it's safe to do so)  might be a better way forward.

I don't expect the locals to some sites appreciate caravans etc coming and going and I honestly think if it's safe to park and wait on site this is a better solution. The main thing is that the 1pm check in is adhered to by all.

In no way was I supporting any sort of abusive review but I was most certainly questioning the system and what happens when things go wrong.

But much better if 1pm arrival is adhered to👍🏻

It's all ok when retired, and you have all the time in the world, but we find the 1pm thing a royal pain in the rear. Thats one of my days off wasted hanging around to get access to the empty pitches. Yes some sites have bad access and I can see the reasoning there but the ones that don't, why not let folks get the empty pitches. I was at coniston a few months back and it's 10am access there and it was really good. Why anyone thinks 1pm is good baffles me.

As for little black books, and 3 strikes and your out.... I think enough people are leaving as it is with the crazy prices let alone regimentation.

And how are the site staff supposed to get all the other miriard of jobs that are needed to be done every day if they have to also attend to arrivals as well? They may well be cleaning toilets or at the far end of the site

As for sites that have earlier are times is PARK COPPICE a member of the clubs staff has posted that they will all be the standard 1300 arrival time later this year?

You're going back over old ground. The deed is done and arrival time is now 1300 whether we like it or not. The issue under discussion here is the club's efforts to enforce it and so far they seem to have been a bit lax with spreading the word.

Quibbling about five or ten minutes seems an odd way to start a holiday. I'm sure if I checked between my watch, my husband's watch, the time on our dash and the time on my mobile phone, there would easily be a five minute discrepancy between them.

There are a multitude of reasons why people might arrive slightly early or slightly late - watch discrepancies, intermittent signals, differences in ETA from satnav to Google maps, an errant flock of sheep or a surprisingly quiet patch of road, the site postcode directing to further than the actual site entrance. We've had all of the above over the last few weeks.

We never aim to be at a site for 1pm. Sitting in a queue is not my idea of fun. But I'm not so jaded to think everyone is trying to take advantage. It's human nature that some will be but the majority of members will just be trying to have a nice break.

Late arrivals at club sites don't occur until after 2000 hrs but it's clear from reading posts and reviews that mayhem is being caused by folk arriving early so the club has decided there will be no leeway and 1300 is the set time.

I see no problem with that and, like you, I don't want to queue. There will be a pitch waiting for me whenever I roll up and not arriving early is so simple.

Btw, it's best not to use postcodes/satnav on the final approach to sites but use the directions provided by the club.👍
