No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

Why, do you think the Club should adopt it.  laughing

Just interested to see why they would need to?

Stayed at a site where reservation is all online vehicle details cross referenced with national database to provide all correct , barrier opens on arrival at site entrance with number plate recognition your name displayed at entrance on a board with pitch number proceed to pitch and set up.

Booking available up to 5.30 pm for same day arrival, queues thing of the past no walking round to find a pitch or going back to the office, owners / staff walk round to check everything ok.

Best system we  have found anywhere.

I’m not advocating any other club / organisation or any other site should adopt this system . It’s just seemed to us very efficient way to run a site without having anyone in the office shuffling bits of paper about and waiting for the phone to ring and freeing up staff to be with their customers if needed and attend to site duties, neither did I say it would be good for all sites but our observations led us to think it did improve our level of customer satisfaction.

Interesting Site GP, got themselves well sorted with being Covid secure. I couldn’t find anything on prices though on website, assume you need to register first. Looks a good travelling stop though.

Personally I would be against paying a deposit - I like the system as it is and seldom book unless I am fairly certain I can go.  If they did go for a deposit I would probably use the C&CC sites more often.  It's the convenience of being able to cancel that keeps me with the C&MHC.  My life isn't all that full of certainties so being able to cancel without penalty works well for me.  I have family stuff and hospital appointments making the uncertainty.

I assume this is the one at Taunton, next door to VanBitz? If so I have stayed a couple of times, most recently in 2019. It seems to have changed a bit as I don't recall any barriers.

I have no strong feelings about deposits, but after making the argument in favour of folk to be able to book a surface pitch type for the last 10 years, I am really pleased that this will come online in 2022.

On the subject of deposits, the C&CC also take deposits and I think there are also occasions when they even say that members must book a minimum number of nights (may be weekends or Bank Holidays?).

Correct DK system installed 2020 below taken from there web site.

   Summer 2020:-

We have beefed up the security at Cornish Farm Touring Park for the safety of our paying guests.

All bookings are now made online, and personal and contact details must be supplied along now with that vital last piece of information, the vehicle registration number.

The automatic number plate recognition system will check the number, cross reference the database to ensure that the vehicle should be allowed access to the site and open the security barrier.

Should you wish to visit us during normal office hours and your not booked in, you can use our new video surveillance system, again which allows us to see who you are, talk to you and allow access when appropriate.

All these things help keep you safer at Cornish Farm Touring Park
