No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

Fully agree Tinny, we plan a lot of tours around 1 or 2 night stays, moving on along our route rather than retracing our steps, so it would be another reason for us to pitch elsewhere than a Club Site. I suspect quite a few other MH owners who tour like us might be the same.

Caravannners do the same, it's very useful for everyone to have one night stays.

It is Brue, we often had just the one night in the van, but we do “hop” more in the MH😁

Yes, Brue. I’m sure caravaners do too. Just recently I’ve used a one night stop to travel down to a habitation service some 90 miles away from home. I did similar for my motorhome MOT earlier this year.
Have also met several unplanned family ‘needs’ which have required an over night stay to break the journey. The likes all very useful I’m sure for many members. I can however understand why the independent and one off family run sites are not as accommodating mind but that’s their loss and why I remain a member of this club, this network of sites around the country.

Another site that uses ANPR technology and one site we used this year - Barley Meadow Touring Park - is ideal if travelling to Cornwall as it is situated close to the A30 between Okehampton and Exeter.

It’s a business balancing act indeed. I’m sure from a financial perspective the Club will love a week long stay more than an overnight booking, particularly if it prevents a potential week long stay. This is possibly part of the problem in the Summer where weekends tend to get booked, but not the midweek period. It could be done, but only controversially, and more complicated than usual book a year in advance, with extra T&Cs.

Yes very useful. We’ve done 11 this year. All but one CAMC. The odd one was C&CC booked several months ahead. However it was early October mid week, so perhaps that’s why it let me book it.

I think all business needs to look at their target audience too. All providers in this industry having pretty much the same ways of working and Ts&Cs would remove much healthy competition. Add to that being a club with members and that winning formula may possibly be more difficult but not impossible to find.

Correct DK system installed 2020 below taken from there web site.

   Summer 2020:-

We have beefed up the security at Cornish Farm Touring Park for the safety of our paying guests.

All bookings are now made online, and personal and contact details must be supplied along now with that vital last piece of information, the vehicle registration number.

The automatic number plate recognition system will check the number, cross reference the database to ensure that the vehicle should be allowed access to the site and open the security barrier.

Should you wish to visit us during normal office hours and your not booked in, you can use our new video surveillance system, again which allows us to see who you are, talk to you and allow access when appropriate.

All these things help keep you safer at Cornish Farm Touring Park

A bit different from when I last used it. In fairness I have only used the site to have work done at VanBitz next door and they paid for one night.
