The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

Unfortunately BB, there are a minority of perfectly able-bodied people who would take advantage of an unlocked disabled room, and possibly leave a disabled person in distress.

On sites, many disabled rooms also double as family bathrooms, and contain the full range of facilities, thus providing a user with their own all-in-one bathroom.

You may be right, Kjell...obviously not my specialist subject...easy enough for any site to give a 'secret' combination or special key to interested members..

however, as mentioned unthread, shouldn't we be using as much technology to limit contact on entry if all details are with the club and the booking has been prepaid?

I think the big mistake they are making, is not making automatic balance payment compulsory. The C&CC have throughout covid, then everyone could pull up outside reception, be given a map and welcome pack  if required, instructions if required and sent on there way. What is going to stall the system are folk who have to go in and pay, causing a blockage on many sites.

Steve, there will always be some people who want to pay by cash or other means, I reckon just on my site this season around 30% of our arrivals paid by cash or vouchers

A move to ANPR at some point?

The commercial site we used last week had this.
The commercial site we are using at New Year has this.

no barrier fobs, keys etc and with most commercials requiring a deposit, a balance payment and a pitch selection/allocation prior to arrival, there ain't a lot for reception to do....wave?

Just a point regarding the use of disabled toilets/showers - remember that not all disabilities are obvious or visible. Just because a couple are young or an individual may appear to be able bodied does not necessarily mean they have no reason to use the facilities, nor that they should be expected to explain why they are using them.

I'm sure there are occasions when they are misused, but sometimes folk are too ready to jump to conclusions - just saying!

With reference to ANPR earlier in this thread.  Using Technology seems to be something we are becoming more reliant on but unfortunately it is not 100 per cent fool-proof, it can malfunction.

ANPR specifically if/when used on sites only matches the vehicle numberplate to the booking the site has as far as I am aware.  I don’t think it confirms whom is driving onto site or how many occupants are in the LV.  Something which I would think is relevant with regard to a possible incident eg fire.

Thanks JK for giving CT users info. Good to see your comment on page 33 (I think) “There won't be any bypassing the check in. Prepayment will just make it a bit swifter. If you just drove in how would we know who's on site and where and when? We are working on other ways to get everyone in in a timely fashion”

Have not yet found a disabled room that also doubles as a family room alsosurprised

You may be right as far as most CAMC sites are concerned, but "other sites are available" .

Have seen it on quite a few CCC sites.  We also found it at Crystal Palace and Whitewater Park, but it was a while back.

OH prefers to use our own shower these days, as long as I am agreeable to fetching the water!

What they may be "admitting" as their "modus operendi (sic)" may just be to avoid the possibility of having an embarrassing conversation about their true reasons, JVB. Please don't rush to judgement.

A couple of ANPR  "problems?"t hat I have been told of

 1. unless as those used by government agency's they are calibrated   they are not accurate found that out at a Tesco Car park

2  some of them will not read number plates that the letters and numbers are not correctly spaced as per it seems many private plates
