The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

With the ccc  system of taking the arrival to the pitch ,I would expect  the pitch number to to be relayed to the office ,if they have security barriers ,the arrival still has to go and fetch a numbered barrier card/fob to get in and out ,,also site info,I have yet to be given such when shown to a pitch

The C&CC give out everything on arrival, they don't use pitch numbers on a map (although they have their own numbered map) you choose your pitch and that's it, codes are used for barriers etc. Much easier for all concerned.

If the ground was bone dry on arrival, we could be tempted by a better located grass pitch.........but not by the idea of committing to grass ahead of time.

Yes, that’s the problem with being able/having to book a pitch type well ahead of the holiday. I doubt few would risk booking a grass pitch on an unknown site months in advance.

Holidays are supposed to be a winding down relaxing experience if you're starting with rush rush trying to save a few minutes you've no chance.

I'm guessing your visits were pre-Covid JVB? Since Covid struck they have used this system but codes not keys have usually been the norm too. No dropping keys in buckets of disinfectant etc much easier for site staff.

There won't be any bypassing the check in. Prepayment will just make it a bit swifter. If you just drove in how would we know who's on site and where and when? We are working on other ways to get everyone in in a timely fashion

A move to ANPR at some point?

The commercial site we used last week had this.
The commercial site we are using at New Year has this.

no barrier fobs, keys etc and with most commercials requiring a deposit, a balance payment and a pitch selection/allocation prior to arrival, there ain't a lot for reception to do....wave?

Yes, that is why I reckon HSs will get booked up first, and those of us who do not want to risk a grass pitch will book elsewhere.
