Exploiting the members

Why is it necessary for the club sites to seek excessive profits on  school holidays. My son has booked a pitch at Brecon beacon site for the Easter holidays. Cost per night for 2 adults and 1 child  £37.80 per night. The following week it would have been £ 27.95. What extra costs does the running of the site between the 2 weeks. .Nothing just exploiting the members because of the school holidays. Yet another excuse to make more money from the members when we already pay a membership fee.

Except as others have posted on not just this website , the USP that has been thrown away, and especially for as also posted the growing older population and as a recent poster said is it now worth booking with this club,

We use FM a lot all year , and it is very noticeable the age of those who keep the site viable especially off peak and this time of year, ,those as my OH now ;really appreciate what this clubs present  USP can mean to keep being able to get away,

If you have kept up to date we had to cancel a site from Friday just past because we had a phone call for a hospital appointment   tomorrow we were originally going to FM today

JK mentioned the dedicated? line to discuss deposits? at our age we want less stress not more

Sorry, JV, I don’t keep up to date with your personal life but cancellations can happen to any of us for any reason at any age. It’s not something peculiar to older age but can be more likely. There comes a time when we must all ask ourselves if trying to carry on as we did 10/20/30 years ago is the sensible thing to do and if our answer is "yes" then we must bear the consequences of that decision.

Did you misunderstand JK's post, perhaps? The dedicated person is there to help if you feel you have grounds for a deposit refund and not to add stress.

Yes, the club has binned its USP and I don’t like it either but I accept it makes good business sense and see no point in continually posting about older people cancelling due to health issues. That’s just what life chucks at us and we live with it or get out.

Stress comes in many forms.  ,another tier is not needed   ,when trying to get someone to see reason  ,Jk did not say person he said channel?

He didn't even say channel JVB.

There will be a dedicated line of communication for members to discuss with a member of head office staff who think they should get their deposit back

I think expecting the same person is a bit much?

...to see reason

But whose reason? In my view the club is doing far more than it could or should? Many other providers simply say you won't get your money back whatever the reason at least here there might be a chance?

The club can't be expected to cover all possible eventualities.

For the sake of clarity, JK said "There will be a dedicated line of communication for members to discuss with a member of head office staff who think they should get their deposit back."

To be brutally honest, JV, if you find the prospect of asking for a refund to be stressful, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate a few things.

Anyway, we have strayed from the OP into territory appropriate to the new site booking system thread so I suggest we leave it there.

JV, there is little you can tell me about stress and the cure has been that if I find something stressful, I don’t do it.

Like TW said if you find being in a phone queue stressful and the whole system going to be in place then maybe choose another way.

Short term - book for this year and up to 2023 now?

We strayed into the new booking system so perhaps this should be on that thread.

I'm just trying to be helpful JVB.

The old system and it's unique usp won't be coming back.

The new system will be easier overall than you're imagining.

I don't see anything major to get stressed over.

Enjoy FM & happy birthday.

JK

No exploitation eitherwink

Not rocket science ,It is simple supply, and demand
Not sure what paying a membership fees has to do with supply and demand
If you want to stop this, then schools need to stagger their  holidays  so there is no surge, from  members to book pitches

We are already booked into next year and hopefully will be able to honour them  all ,I am just trying to maintain a another scenario that it seems many including those who thought up the idea of the throwing away this clubs USP, do not really understand or acknowledge how many the deposits system will affect surprised,
