Exploiting the members

Why is it necessary for the club sites to seek excessive profits on  school holidays. My son has booked a pitch at Brecon beacon site for the Easter holidays. Cost per night for 2 adults and 1 child  £37.80 per night. The following week it would have been £ 27.95. What extra costs does the running of the site between the 2 weeks. .Nothing just exploiting the members because of the school holidays. Yet another excuse to make more money from the members when we already pay a membership fee.

Now we enjoyed the site and would certainly use it again if we were still members of the C&CC.laughing

Just shows no two of us are the same. My worst gripe was the traffic noise at the top of the site where we were unlucky enough to pitch.

We've not been to the Lydford site since it’s been an AS but used it a fair bit when it was a C&CC site and enjoyed our stays there.

We are already booked into next year and hopefully will be able to honour them  all ,I am just trying to maintain a another scenario that it seems many including those who thought up the idea of the throwing away this clubs USP, do not really understand or acknowledge how many the deposits system will affect surprised,

I think you are muddling up the threads JVB. This thread is about prices.

Don't remember being annoyed by the traffic noise but it was quite a while ago, and we were further in on site.

We too have only used the Lydford site when it was a C&CC site, and enjoyed our stay there too.

Thats where we have most if our money , in the house ,which since we bought it means we. , well the kids will have to pay inheritance taxundecided

Whereas todays generations seen to not think about when they retire  they just spend as if there is no tomorrow

House plus money in the bank means a couple can leave £1 million and no IHT payable........do you have a huge mansion?   surprised

Boomers had all the job choices-out of 1 job on Monday start another Tuesday, private pension & a state pension, cold weather payments, no medical bills, until recently a pension rise every year too🤷🏻‍♂️, there is nothing in boomer world to worry about for sure. The golden era👍🏻

if only!!

Presumably not all "boomers" are created equal.

My pension is now lagging way behind inflation.

If you have issues you can make a claim KJ, that’s what the benefits system is there-to help the truly needy & suffering. There are more & more in this country making the hard decision of-Eat or Heat☹️. Food banks are seeing unprecedented requests for help.

One of the radio stations around here have been running a competition to pay one's bills for a year by giving away amounts around £50,000 as they say this is the AVERAGE for yearly household bills now. I've not added up my own bills, but I know pensions come to nowhere near that in a year.

Rocky.....I agree Baby Boomer years have been good for us. However when you say no medical bills ?, but look how much you have paid in!. I would not want it any other way, I think our NHS system is wonderful. We have been a fortunate family and a relatively healthy family and only once used an Hospital and so little cost against what we have paid in . I begrudge nothing and certainly not complaining about the system.......but a full term paying N I until retirement is a lot money and so no medical bills because they have been pre paid. I repeat I am not complaining, the system isn't perfect but I know of nothing better.

I agree re NHS👏🏻👏🏻. Have you ever checked out other countries costs re medical bills, the ones who don’t have NHS type healthcare? The costs run into the 100’s of thousands per operation or even paying for an Ambulance🤷🏻‍♂️🙁. We haven’t paid enough into the kitty to pay for the level of healthcare we actually get ADP, Drugs alone are eye watering in costs. It’s a lottery-we pay when generally healthy for the times we are not. My Baby boomers posts were originally about pensions too-as in private & state, the state pension in decades to come will no longer be an option, the writing is already on the wall.

Rocky.....Agree 100%. If I stop and take stock of my position I/we have been very fortunate. We have worked hard for our now comfortable lifestyle. Nothing like many, was given to us, but we did have the good fortune and wisdom to provide for this present time. During our working lives my wife and I were covered by BUPA, a perk provided by our companies which we never used ( glad we had no need to ) but it was something we had to pay Tax on. The cost if I wanted to be in BUPA now at my age is astronomical. As you say medical health care in other countries is mind blowing. Again as I say I am not complaining and what we have not needed others in need are very welcome to.
