Early arrivals - action at last?

I’ve said several times when we’ve discussed the issue of early arrivals that, in my opinion, the only effective way to deal with recalcitrant 'offenders' is to apply membership sanctions.

I’ve been reading elsewhere of a CAMC member who, it’s reported, has had his club membership suspended by the Site Manager due to arriving early at Hillhead and refusing to leave despite being requested to do so by that Site Manager.

In this case it seems to have been the member's own lack of planning and forethought which resulted in his early arrival so it’s not a case of there being any extenuating circumstances.

Obviously only one side of the story is given and we need to keep open minds but, if this is factual, it would appear that the club is using its teeth in an effort to enforce the no arrivals before 1300 rule. Perhaps this is what is needed to get the message across.

We have to take the poster by face value, and yes I read it on the other forum too.I actually had read it before Tinwheeler opened this thread, and thought at the time it was rather odd.He had no anger in his post, and admitted he was early.

What I do find strange in all of this, why post it on another forum, when he know's this forum is monitored.I just cannot see what he hopes to achieve by this.

+1, he can’t be asking for justice as he broke the rules stated. He was directed to return at the appropriate time(but refused) several times so can’t say he was unaware of the arrival times. He maybe wanted his ego stroking due to his anger. . .Although that wasn’t recognisable. It would be good if the person saw this thread & made his point here🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe he believed the other forum would be more amenable post dilemma.

We have noted several very early arrivals being turned away from the site we were on

I think? If they arrive just before 1300 there a member of staff at the first barrier allowing booked arrivals in other wise the lane passing the site becomes instructed but none are booked onto site until 1300 and depending how many there are fast tracked arrival is used

The problem is some do not then return to the office to pay and site staff need to find them later

If that was his intention then it's not worked out too well. One poster there echo's my sentiments exactly about agreeing to a set of rules then deciding they don't suit and doing your own thing. I could have written that post myself (in case anyone is wondering it's not me on there)

There seems to be quite a few members.who are unaware of this forum ,when in conversation with them on sites!?🤔 While on my respite 👌

As an aside we have used Hillhead on several occasions and the approach route can be a nightmare or easy (much better since the new relief road was opened  so  about an hour from Exeter site is not to be unexpected  and if arriving 15mins early could be a good journey  it is not as if Hillhead is short of parking   unless it has been altered

I did wonder when I saw that post, Corners 😀. Perhaps he copied your words from here as there are several who use both forums as we've seen.

I think the main gripe was not being allowed to wait in the arrivals area but not all sites have that much space so I can understand the club issuing a blanket dictate to turn folk away.

No site is the same for space to wait  but it seems the tick box has yet again taken over from common sense

Which in the years of our membership is for a few site staff an excuse to use it as an "I run this site And what I say goes"🤔

I have had a run in recently with a couple of Managers? who can only run a site via tick boxes

Site managers can only use their discretion to a certain extent and if the club says to turn every early arrival away, then that's what they do.

The problem with a non uniform approach is that if people are given a concession on one site, they then expect the same leeway on every site leading to chaotic situations on some sites.

There are concessions and also common sense  which at times it seems are not compatible when the tick box society are involved😏🤣🤣
